Cubic Digital Intelligence is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to serve as the primary on-site engineering resource supporting the Unified Video (UV) platform at Fort Meade. This role serves as the technical liaison between customer operations personnel and the Unified Video engineering team, providing hands-on software engineering, DevOps, systems integration, and operational support for mission-critical Full Motion Video (FMV) capabilities. The engineer will develop site-specific software enhancements, automation scripts, deployment solutions, and operational tooling while supporting Kubernetes-based infrastructure, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring mission systems remain reliable and responsive to evolving customer requirements. This is a full-time, primarily on-site position located at Fort Meade, MD, supporting classified customer environments with occasional travel to Cubic facilities and other customer locations as required.
Essential Functions- Serve as the primary on-site software engineering representative supporting Unified Video (UV), Feed Management Portal (FMP), NetOps, and related mission applications.
- Troubleshoot software, infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues directly within operational environments.
- Develop site-specific software enhancements, automation scripts, utilities, and custom integrations to meet customer mission requirements.
- Support Kubernetes-based deployments, containerized applications, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines in both development and operational environments.
- Assist with software installation, upgrades, configuration management, and release deployments.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevSecOps, operations, and customer personnel to resolve complex technical issues.
- Develop and maintain automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or similar scripting technologies.
- Perform root cause analysis for software and system issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
- Document operational procedures, engineering solutions, and customer-specific configurations.
- Support system demonstrations, customer testing events, and field integration activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering or DevOps experience.
- Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience developing software using one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Node.js, JavaScript, Java, or C++.
- Experience administering Linux systems and working with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across software, infrastructure, networking, and deployment environments.
- Experience supporting operational or deployed DoD software systems.
- Experience with Kubernetes administration, container orchestration, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience developing automation using Python, Ansible, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Linux administration, and distributed systems.
- Experience supporting Full Motion Video (FMV), media processing, or ISR mission systems.
- Experience working directly with customers in classified operational environments.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to improve engineering productivity and accelerate troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in operational or customer-facing environments.
Cubic Pay Range:
$159,000.00 - $184,000.00* + benefits.
*Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
