As a senior features engineer on Hearthstone, you will join with designers and other engineers to create the amazing systems we deliver to our millions of players. You will engineer social and progression features that increase engagement and bring joy and excitement to our players. You will also mentor earlier-career engineers in solving complex challenges and building strong habits for supporting a long-running live game, while growing your own skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

What you bring to the table:

• Collaborate with designers, UI implementers, artists, and other engineers to prototype and build player-facing features in our Unity/C# front-end and C++ servers.
• Balance the intricacies of maintaining and expanding a mature codebase, implementing optimizations, debugging live issues, and consistently delivering new systems to players.
• Review feature requests to assess their feasibility, comprehensiveness in design, and associated risks. 
• Bolster the success of fellow team members by offering technical guidance, engaging in code reviews, and providing mentorship. 

Minimum Requirements

• Substantial expertise in the field of professional game development. 
• Strong established skills with C++ or C# languages. 
• Deep experience debugging complex logic. 
• Proficiency with extending and improving an established code base.
• Dedication to improving all facets of the game and unlocking potential within the team. 
• Able to communicate & collaborate effectively with artists, designers, and other engineers. 

Extra Points

• Avid Hearthstone player. 
• Experience with implementing systems in a large-scale client/server environment. 
• Database development experience. 
• Experience with the Unity platform. 
• Experience supporting a live service. 
• Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related degree.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
