Our mission is to drive innovation, speed and quality by empowering teams to run hypothesis driven, rapid experiments at scale.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help drive technical architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to enhance experimentation quality and velocity. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Design, develop, test, and deploy components of Chime’s internal experimentation platform at scale.
- Solve scale and usability problems in causal inference that are unique to Chime’s business.
- Partner closely with Data Engineering & DSML to introduce new statistical methodologies, enhancing experiment velocity and performance.
- Lead technical direction by mentoring engineers and driving architectural excellence, software development best practices, and engineering quality.
- Lead the team on its transition to leverage GenAI for building in a safe and sustainable manner.
- Deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure, ensuring low-latency execution of high-volume experiments.
- Write thoroughly tested, high-quality code and work with the engineering team to ensure robust software releases.
- Follow Agile methodologies and practice Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address platform issues as needed.
To thrive in this role you have…
- 6+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expertise in Go or other backend languages such as Ruby, Java, or Python.
- Hands-on experience with experimentation methodologies such as A/B testing, multivariate testing, and feature flagging.
- A strong background in data science-related fields, including analytics, statistics, and machine learning.
- Expertise in distributed systems, large-scale applications, and Big Data architecture.
- A rigorous approach to testing and experience with test-driven development.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, Cloud-Native technologies, and NoSQL databases.

What We Do
Chime was created because we believe everyone can unlock financial progress, and we want to develop solutions and services to empower people to succeed. The premise upon which we started Chime is simple: basic banking services should be helpful, transparent, and easy. Our easy-to-use tools and intuitive platforms give members the ability to have more control over their money and to take action toward achieving their financial ambitions.
By designing a member-centric banking app with easy-to-understand financial tools, we’re creating a more competitive market with options for everyday Americans. We offer access to accounts with no overdraft fees, provide members the chance to receive their pay up to 2 days early* with direct deposit, help them build credit history, and build financial literacy to hit their goals—among many other things.
Since 2012, we’ve grown our team to more than 1500 Chimers across 3 offices. But more than that, we’ve expanded the products and services we offer to our members based on member feedback. And in doing so, we’ve disrupted the banking industry and changed the conversation for everyday people about money on a national level.
Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., Members FDIC.
*Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.
Why Work With Us
Working at Chime means keeping our values in mind, putting our members first, and striving for long-term growth and success. To that end, we’re building an inclusive workplace where all perspectives and experiences are welcome on our team and creating an environment where every Chimer can thrive.
