The Senior Software Engineer – DevOps is responsible for incorporating industry-standard build, integration, deployment, and security practices into the development of medical research and laboratory work instruments, as well as managing the associated cloud infrastructure.
This position reports to the Software Manager and is part of the India Development Center Software R&D team located in Bengaluru and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate closely with software development teams to design, implement, and optimize automated CI/CD pipelines for remote connectivity software, incorporating automation and best practices.
- Build and maintain scalable infrastructure across development, QA and production environments, including cloud resources, containerized workloads and networking components. Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions.
- Automate and continuously improve development and release processes.
- Ensure the systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats and maintain compliance with relevant security standards.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural input for new projects.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with identifying root causes to develop robust software updates and system fixes.
- Create comprehensive documentation and actively share best practices across different teams in the organization.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 5+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role.
- Strong foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts, with hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services and expertise in building, maintaining, and supporting CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity with hands-on experience with Terraform for creating and managing cloud infrastructure environments across development, QA and production environments.
- Proficiency with Git for version control, including managing scripts and environment configurations in GitHub. Familiarity with branching strategies, pull requests, and Git workflows.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix networking fundamentals and Proficient in scripting with PowerShell, Bash, YAML / JSON and Groovy to automate DevOps-related tasks and infrastructure processes.
- Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes to build, deploy, and scale microservices.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Understanding of software development processes in a regulated environment.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
- Experience with various Azure services such as Azure IoT Hub, Azure K8S, Azure SQL Server, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor etc.
