Position Description:
Develops stock plan services software applications on a mainframe platform running under a Z/OS environment. Designs innovative solutions and improves efficiency through optimization and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based principles. Develops applications and provides support on a mainframe environment, using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Database 2 (DB2), Customer Information Control System (CICS), Job Control Language (JCL), MQ-Series, SQL, and Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) files. Provides business solutions by developing complex software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent including 3-year foreign degree) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Technology Management, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining core COBOL, DB2, and CICS application programs within a mainframe environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Technology Management, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining core COBOL, DB2, and CICS application programs within a mainframe environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing application development, automation, and support, using COBOL, CICS, and JCL; and facilitating the delivery of new and enhanced value to clients by developing software features on new and existing products, using DB2 and VSAM (as datastores) to fetch data for new programs and tasks.
DE performing mainframe application development within Time Sharing Option (TSO) and Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) operating system environments using Endevor and Git (for version control), CA7 (for scheduling and monitoring), Abend-AID and Intertest (for debugging), File-Aid (for browsing), and Easytrieve (for report generation).
DE performing mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning within TSO and MVS operating system environments (including reducing I/O, CPU Time, MSUs, MIPs, and Platinum Detector) to address software scalability, performance, and availability for key system features that process payment transactions.
DE building applications, and performing integration, testing, delivery, and deployment of mainframe components for Web-based applications using SoapUI, Postman, and Data Studio.
