What will you be doing?

As a Data & Application Support Engineer, you will support critical business data processing and application services, ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of ETL processes, reporting solutions, and business applications. Working with both internal stakeholders and external clients, you will investigate issues, implement improvements, and contribute to the ongoing development of data and application platforms. The role offers the opportunity to work across a broad technology stack while continuously developing new technical skills and expertise.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain weekly ETL processes within SQL Server environments.
• Monitor, investigate, and resolve ETL job failures and data processing issues.
• Support and maintain Microsoft Tabular Models and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes.
• Analyse, diagnose, and resolve data quality, integrity, and performance issues.
• Investigate root causes of data, application, and system issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Support, maintain, and enhance business applications developed in Python and C#.
• Develop and implement application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
• Participate in testing, deployment, and release activities.
• Manage and maintain source code using SVN and GitHub repositories.
• Work with development teams to ensure effective version control and change management practices.
• Provide technical support to internal business users and external clients.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding incidents, service requests, and enhancement activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes, automation, and monitoring capabilities.

 Essential Experience:

• Experience supporting SQL Server databases and ETL processes.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving SQL job failures and data processing issues.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Tabular Models and SSAS cubes.
• Experience analysing and resolving data quality, reconciliation, and performance issues.
• Experience supporting, maintaining, and enhancing applications developed in Python and C#.
• Experience implementing software fixes, enhancements, and maintenance releases.
• Experience using source control systems, including SVN and GitHub.
• Experience working directly with internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
• Demonstrable professional experience in SQL Server, application support, and data analysis environments.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting reporting and business intelligence platforms.
• Experience working within a data warehouse environment.
• Experience in Monet/Postgres is added advantage.
• Experience with automated monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Track record of expanding technical expertise across multiple technologies and platforms.

Essential Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft SQL Server certification.
• Python certification or equivalent professional experience.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Relevant qualifications in software development, database administration, business intelligence, or data platform technologies.
