Who we are looking for
A Senior Software Engineer, who will be developing, enhancing and supporting our core product systems, which handle essential functions such as bet placement and settlements, Cash Out and editing.
As a technically minded Senior Software Engineer, you will have experience in functional programming and distributed systems.
We are building our first technology team based in Denver, Colorado and are looking for talented technical experts to join our Core Systems department.
Core Systems develop, enhance and support systems that are essential to the running of the Company website. Many of the systems process very high volumes of transactions, particularly around high profile sporting events. The resilience and stability of those systems are crucial to the uptime and functionality of our website.
Within Core Systems, all systems and services are housed on a Linux operating system and primarily built around open source technologies. Our drive to improve concurrency and fault tolerance mean services are either written in Go or Erlang. You will have the experience and talent required to deliver efficient, scalable, enterprise class software solutions and will thrive in a fast moving and technologically innovative environment.
As a key individual contributor in a team of skilled technology professionals, you will enjoy working closely with others and be able to share your own skills and experience, as well as capitalise on the experience of your peers.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company's hybrid working from home policy.
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000 annually.
Preferred skills and experience
Experience of developing, maintaining and debugging large scale distributed systems.
Demonstrable experience of delivering high quality, scalable, software solutions.
Commercial experience in programming including Go or Erlang.
Extensive experience in server side development including services, systems, messaging and middleware.
Self-driven with ability to understand complex architecture.
Good communication and team working skills.
Experience of coaching and mentoring on technical subject areas.
Ability to problem solve.
Strong academic background, ideally with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an IT related degree or relevant industry experience.
Exposure to Google Cloud Platform.
Main Responsibilities
Developing low latency, highly available and scalable solutions that process high volumes of transactions.
Creating and maintaining concurrent distributed components.
Supporting and enhancing the existing code base.
Performing root cause analysis to create solutions to stop fault reoccurrence.
Ensuring quality and performance of the systems through quality assurance and rigorous testing.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to support team members professional development.
Identifying technical areas of improvement.
Contributing to solution proposals as required.
Creating work effort estimates.
Working on Linux and GNU utilities.
