About the Customer
Our client maintains a custom from-source build of the Electron framework. Our custom build also includes a few custom patches we apply to Electron, Chromium, and Node.js.
About the Project
We are working on transitioning from an Electron-based desktop application to their own C desktop framework as a long-term solution. The team maintains the Electron app (focusing on frequent updates, addressing security concerns, and integrating custom patches). At the same time, they are concentrating on the new framework. The objective is to transition from Electron within 1 year.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in C++ programming with a strong understanding of low-level coding and debugging
- Background in Large-scale Projects: Proven experience working on large-scale projects involving roles that required interaction with multiple areas of the project
- Knowledge of Electron
- Full-stack Web Development: Demonstrated expertise in full-stack web development, with significant contributions across both frontend and backend
- Build Systems Management: Proficiency in managing build systems, ensuring consistent and reliable software builds and deployments
- Quick learner, enthusiastic about new technologies, adaptable to fast-paced environments

Experience with the Chromium platform

Responsibilities
- Keeping our Electron build up-to-date with Electron. This involves revising patches, analyzing potential stability risks on the target version, and potentially helping fix and upstream key blockers
- Be attentive to security issues in Electron and backport them to our custom build promptly
- Keep our Electron custom build CI pipeline healthy
- Consult with internal stakeholders to determine the scope of software development projects
- Collaborate with the software development team on application design and development
- Perform diagnostic tests and debugging procedures
- Optimize software by performing maintenance, updates, and upgrades
- Document processes and maintain software development records
- Keep up to date with C++ standards and advancements in application development
