About the teamAt Zillow, the Data Insights team empowers teams across the company to create and consume trusted, self-service insights at scale. We build and operate the platform capabilities behind reporting, dashboards, interactive analytical applications, and AI-powered analytics. We also own key parts of Zillow’s trusted metrics foundation and the compute and warehouse capabilities that power analytics across the business.
Beyond the platform itself, we help define the standards, reusable patterns, and governance that make insights easier to build, easier to trust, and easier to scale across Zillow Group. This aligns with the team’s broader direction around a single trusted metrics foundation, AI-native self-service, improved discovery, and tooling convergence.
This team sits at the center of Zillow’s data ecosystem. The systems we build support engineers, data scientists, executives, product managers, and business teams across Zillow Group.
You’ll work on a broad set of high-impact problems, from trusted metrics and platform architecture to AI-enabled analytics experiences. You’ll help shape how teams across Zillow discover data, ask questions, and make decisions with confidence.

About the role

We’re hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer  to help build the next generation of Zillow’s analytics and insights platform.

You’ll help make it easier for teams across Zillow to onboard to the platform, discover trusted data, ask better questions, and build insights without reinventing tooling or redefining metrics. Current work includes efforts around semantic consistency, onboarding, discoverability, and operationalizing AI-ready data workflows.

What you’ll do
  • Build and evolve platform capabilities for reporting, dashboards, interactive applications, and AI-powered analytical experiences

  • Develop systems that improve how users discover, understand, and use trusted data and metrics

  • Contribute to the metrics, metadata, and governance foundations that enable reliable self-service analytics at scale

  • Improve analytics infrastructure, warehouse and compute integrations, and platform developer experience

  • Design and ship AI-enabled workflows that simplify onboarding, insight creation, and interaction with the data platform

  • Apply LLMs pragmatically in product and developer workflows to improve usability, quality, and productivity

  • Own projects end-to-end, from design through production rollout and adoption

  • Partner with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions used across Zillow Group

  • Help define technical standards, golden paths, and reusable patterns that raise consistency and trust across the analytics ecosystem

What We Do

Join our mission to give the people power to unlock life’s next chapter. Our homes are the heartbeat of our lives, and we believe that finding a home shouldn’t be so hard in today’s always-on world. That’s why we’re reimagining the traditional rules of real estate to make it easier than ever to move from one home to the next. Our journey began nearly 15 years ago with a handful of employees and one big idea: to make it radically easier for people to move. We began by helping people understand and track their homes with the Zestimate, our proprietary algorithm, and then with advanced technology and valuable connections with real estate professionals. Today, Zillow has become a household name. People are more likely to search for “Zillow” than “real estate,” and our name is often used as a verb. While other industries have ushered in a new era of convenience, the time for seamless and convenient real estate experience is now. This is our next chapter as a company. We’re looking for smart, passionate adventurers to join us as we reimagine the real estate transaction and change the way people buy, sell, rent and finance their homes.
