Your Team
You will join our Oxa Hub team, where we create Oxa's all of the tools and services that organisations need to deploy, manage, operate and analyse their self-driving applications. It acts as mission control for autonomous fleets driven by Oxa.
Your Role
- Working with a range of other software engineers to spec, design, build, test, deploy, and maintain production-ready web application back-ends, microservices, and associated infrastructure.
- Producing high-quality, tested, maintainable code.
- Liaising with other teams within the company to understand their tooling requirements, incorporating these into specifications.
- Using and extending our existing back-end web application and infrastructure codebases, adhering to their code standards and structure while bearing in mind the advantages, costs, and consequences of refactoring and upgrading.
- Sharing the responsibility in ensuring our back-end web applications and associated infrastructure are fit for purpose, satisfy user requirements, and are suitable for use in production.
- Responding to automated alerts to help diagnose problems with live web applications and infrastructure.
- Collaborating with other team members, discussing problem solving approaches, participating in code reviews and pair programming.
- Contributing to daily stand ups and other agile ceremonies to ensure visibility of team progress.
What you need to succeed:
- Strong back-end web development skills, particularly with Python (Django, Flask, or gRPC).
- Demonstrable experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Experience with back-end web application testing, debugging, and profiling.
- Experience with database management systems (SQL/NoSQL).
- A demonstrable understanding of the importance of documentation, consistent coding styles, modularisation, testing, automation and agile development.
- A demonstrable understanding of common attack vectors and the ability to follow best practices to ensure security when developing web applications and back-end infrastructure.
Extra kudos:
- Experience deploying web apps to the cloud such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Front-end web development experience is a huge plus (particularly TypeScript and React).
- Experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript tools including package management (npm), bundler (webpack), etc.
- Experience with Docker or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
