Job DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY:
Works alongside product engineering team. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining products, sometimes under the guidance of principal engineers. Strives to deliver work with the customer in mind and understands the value of what they’re building. Understands the organization’s strategy and how the engineering culture aligns to this. Recognizes how the product works and the overall purpose and impact of the product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design and develop reusable CI/CD plugins and pipeline extensions in Golang that power Enterprise CI/CD Pipeline (Golang, Gitlab Template) to server all business lines. Build and maintain shared pipeline libraries, custom plugins, and GitLab CI components consumed by application engineering teams. Develop internal developer platform services including pipeline orchestration, build caching, artifact management, and deployment automation. Debug and resolve complex CI plugin failures, pipeline execution issues, and developer-reported platform defects. Collaborate directly with application teams to understand pipeline pain points and translate them into platform improvements. Write unit and integration tests for platform services and CI plugins; maintain high code quality standards. Document plugin APIs, pipeline extension points, and developer onboarding guides. Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response for Enterprise Devops production issues. Research and evaluate new CI/CD tooling, plugin frameworks, and pipeline technologies to improve platform capabilities. Manage user entitlements and access tooling (Entitlement / Access Management).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in DevOps, platform, or CI/CD-focused roles. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java, or similar). Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP). Familiarity with security scanning, secrets management, and DevSecOps practices. Strong communication skills with the ability to work across engineering teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd). Contributions to open-source DevOps or platform tooling projects. CNCF ecosystem familiarity (Argo, Flux, Backstage, etc.). Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent coding assistants.
Familiarity with compliant software development lifecycle (C-SDLC) practices including security gates, audit trails, and regulated change management processes.
