An Appian Developer specializes in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications using the Appian low-code automation platform. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical execution, focusing on process orchestration, automation, and data integration.

Your key responsibilities
- Application Design & Development: Build high-quality, scalable applications using SAIL (Self-Assembling Interface Layer), process models, records, and business rules.
- Systems Integration: Connect Appian solutions with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs, web services, and relational databases (SQL, Oracle)
- Process Automation: Implement automated workflows, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and AI capabilities to streamline complex business operations.
- Maintenance & Support: Troubleshoot application defects, optimize performance, and manage deployments through DevOps pipelines.
- Collaboration: Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical designs.
Your skills and experience
- Appian Platform: Deep expertise in Appian objects (Sites, Records, Reports) and version 20.x or higher.
- Programming: While low-code, proficiency in Java or .Net, JavaScript, and SQL is often required for custom plugins and data management.
- Data Handling: Strong understanding of CDTs (Custom Data Types), data fabric architecture, and relational database design.
- Tools: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development tools like Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Git.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is standard.
- Certifications: Most employers prefer or require Appian certifications, such as Associate Developer (L1), Senior Developer (L2), or Lead Developer (L3).
- Experience: Junior roles typically require 1–3 years of experience, while Senior or Lead roles often seek 5–8+ years of relevant IT and BPM experience
