Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer, you design, develop and maintain the software that powers TOMRA Mining's sensor-based sorters. Working in a small and highly collaborative team, you contribute across a wide range of technical areas, including image and data processing, machine learning, user interfaces, system integration and software architecture.
You will collaborate closely with experts in minerals processing, sensor technology, physics, optics, electronics and mechanical engineering to develop sensor-based sorting solutions for the mining industry. You will also have opportunities to test and validate your software at customer sites around the world, gaining first-hand insight into how your solutions perform in real operating environments and create value for our customers.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain software for our sensor-based sorting solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and implementation to deployment and long-term maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary and international teams.
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and continuously improve our software development practices, tools and processes.
- Evaluate and apply new technologies and methodologies to improve sorter performance, reliability and usability.
- Support the commissioning, testing and optimization of sorting solutions in collaboration with customers and colleagues around the world.
- Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications
Essential skills and knowledge
- Strong experience in professional software development using modern C++.
- Experience with software architecture, design patterns and modern software engineering practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in occasional international travel to support testing, commissioning and optimization activities at customer sites.
- Professional working proficiency in English; German language skills are an advantage.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
