The role
Working as a senior DevOps engineer, you will work with Bupa Global Developers, Testers and the Environments team as well as other MU teams in a collaborative approach to provide technical expertise on the build and release of enterprise level applications and infrastructure primarily from Azure DevOps into Azure and on-prem utilising technologies such as Yaml, PowerShell, ARM and Terraform.
You’ll help us make this happen by
- Focus effectively with strong prior DevOps hands-on skills and knowledge to understand the work undertaken and more importantly drive the future work to build and deploy applications and infrastructure hosted by Bupa
- Drive forward the DevOps strategy by introducing new features/ways of working with a collaborative approach across teams
- Work through our DevOps target roadmap and continue to manage our end-to-end automation process
- Manage current/introduce new/relevant tools, technologies and processes for CI/CD framework, source control management, build automation tools and code testing framework (with knowledge on Docker and terraform for future state)
- Provide support services to deliver the required system availability, reliability and performance necessary to underpin business operations.
- You will possess good oral and written communication skills so that you can effectively communicate with all our stakeholders and various teams in a timely coherent manner and be able to work independently
- Work in collaboration with 3rd party software vendors to ensure services meet or exceed their contract obligations.
- Comply with the internal service protocols/policies so that optimum level of security is embedded in all parts of the DevOps work undertaken.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role
- Strong hands-on experience of working with Azure DevOps in a similar multi skilled team within a technically demanding function.
- Fully adept with scripting languages with strong PowerShell (mandatory), ARM (mandatory), Terraform(Mandatory) and basic .NET (preferable : C# or VB) skills
- Good technical knowledge/usage of Azure cloud (would be useful have knowledge about AWS and GCP)
- Knowledge of containerisation is preferable for target state
- The ability to monitor and troubleshoot services running using logging and analytics tools such as AppInsights and Power BI
- Databases including Oracle (mandatory), SQL Server (preferable) and Cosmos (preferable)
- Good understanding of networking e.g. WAF/Azure front-door web application firewall, proxy etc
- Build and release of bespoke components built for a Content Management System, preferably Sitecore and/or Dynamics CRM
