Position Summary:
This Senior Software Development Engineer will serve as an expert technical and industry resource to management, business and development staff in database development, query performance and optimization for both OLTP and OLAP implementations, hardware capacity planning, source code management and in all phases of major system and subsystem development and implementation for both commercial software packages and internally developed systems. You will provide consultation on internal and industry IT technical and business process capabilities, including leadership in the identification and recommendation of new IT opportunities and process re-engineering. This position will also formulate, contributes to, and directs task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules for research, prototype, and production operational activities. Under general direction, you will formulate and defines system scope and objectives. Directs and participates in software/hardware releases and installation tasks. Provides guidance and training to staff on complex assignments. Coordinates and aligns work efforts across teams and programs. Participates in and directs problem definition and problem resolution activities. Participates in and may lead IT forums, technology assessments, industry research, and other projects as needed. Prepares and conducts presentation of various work products and IT technology directions and strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in MSSQL development on large scale, multi schema databases
- 3+ years of experience in distributed .Net web applications using ADO.Net or Blazor
Preferred Qualifications:
- General knowledge of the Health Care Insurance industry
- Knowledge of Oracle, Azure SQL and/or DB2 a plus
- Experience coaching other staff
- Experience with DevOps for both on-prem and cloud-hosted databases
- Experience onboarding existing, large scale databases to DevOps
- Experience with scripting languages including PowerShell and Bash a plus
- Experience organizing and leading a team
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

The typical pay range for this role is:
$101,970.00 - $203,940.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
