The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test with Android expertise to join the Automation and Tooling Team. Our team consists of Software Development Engineers in Test spread across two locations in Europe, working collaboratively across sites and time zones.
You will join a team responsible for the test infrastructure underpinning Unity's continuous integration. The team builds and maintains CI pipelines across a wide range of platforms - desktop, mobile, consoles, and embedded systems - ensuring that Unity's engine and editor are thoroughly tested before every release.
You will work closely with the team's existing Android platform owner to strengthen Unity's Android test infrastructure - spanning physical device fleets, emulator pipelines, and the tooling that ties them into Unity's CI system. You will contribute to the technical direction for Android CI, collaborate with development and platform teams across Unity, and help ensure Android test pipelines run reliably across all release streams.
What you'll be doing
Working alongside the current Android platform owner to expand and strengthen Android test infrastructure across Unity's CI system
Contributing to the design and maintenance of CI pipelines for Android devices and emulators, ensuring coverage across Android versions, GPU vendors, and device form factors
Participating in Android device fleet strategy - evaluating new devices, planning upgrades, handling device lifecycle and compatibility
Building and improving tools and frameworks for Android test automation, including ADB-based device interaction, emulator management, and test execution
Troubleshooting complex, failing CI scenarios across code and infrastructure, including device-specific issues, driver compatibility, and platform-level regressions
Driving engineering best practices within the team and contributing to cross-team technical decisions
Working cross-team and cross-site with development teams, graphics teams, and platform teams to coordinate test infrastructure changes
Mentoring less experienced team members and contributing to code quality through thorough code reviews
Utilizing AI tools such as Claude to boost productivity in analysis, automation, and problem-solving
What we're looking for
Experience with Unity and its usage
Knowledge of Unity test frameworks and testing methodologies
Knowledge of Unity-supported platforms, with depth in Android
Knowledge of Android phones, including ADB connectivity, device provisioning, emulator configuration, Android SDK/NDK tooling, and device fleet management
Experience with CI/CD systems, for example Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar
Programming experience in C#, with secondary experience in Python
Experience with or knowledge of AI tools usage, such as Claude, for development productivity
A track record of contributing to a technical domain and driving improvements independently
An analytical mindset with the ability to debug issues across code and infrastructure layers
A team player who thrives in a collaborative, cross*site environment
An agile mindset with a structured approach to tracking work, for example using Jira
You might also have
Experience with Android emulator infrastructure (AVD configuration, virtualization, custom images)
Experience working with Android Studio / Google Firebase Lab
Familiarity with scripting in Bash or PowerShell
Experience with development supporting tools such as Git, code review workflows, and project management tools as Jira
Experience mentoring engineers or driving technical standards within a team
