About ECP
ECP is a market-leading SaaS solution that enables senior living communities to better care for their residents. ECP is used in over 8,000 communities around the world. We're actively expanding the number of customers using our software, and better servicing existing customers by developing and releasing new products.
About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to scale our test infrastructure across our engineering organization. You'll play a dual role: building robust test frameworks in CI/CD pipelines, while writing and automating comprehensive tests that set the standard for quality across our products.
Working across multiple product teams with diverse tech stacks, from modern React/Node.js applications to legacy systems undergoing modernization, you'll design and implement scalable solutions to complex automated testing challenges, such as browser-level cross-product testing, database migrations, and API integrations.
The ideal candidate will be a force multiplier whose infrastructure work will accelerate dev teams’ own test automation, while leading by example through the high-value, complex tests you write yourself.
What You'll Do
Build Testing Infrastructure & Architecture (40%)
- Design and implement comprehensive testing frameworks across ECP's product portfolio (React, Node.js, ColdFusion/Lucee, and legacy systems)
- Build custom tooling for testing complex scenarios: browser-level application testing, API integrations, database migrations, cross-product workflows, and offline-capable applications
- Use modern test tools (Playwright, Jest, Cypress, Testing Library) and AI tools to accelerate test development
- Create reusable test libraries and utilities that work across different tech stacks
- Architect and optimize CI/CD testing pipelines for fast feedback (<15 minute test runs) with quality gates
Write and Automate High-Value Tests (40%)
- Develop comprehensive test suites for modern web apps, legacy system integrations, API services, and database operations
- Develop the hard tests that require deep expertise: race conditions, timing issues, cross-system integrations, and data consistency edge cases
- Build integration and E2E test suites for critical user workflows
Enable & Mentor Engineering Teams (20%)
- Train engineers across the organization in automated testing methodologies
- Create exemplar tests that demonstrate best practices for development teams to follow
- Review test automation code written by other engineers, providing constructive feedback
- Evangelize testing standards, coverage requirements, and quality metrics
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify test requirements early
- Contribute to building a culture of quality
Requirements
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional automated testing software development experience
- Expert-level programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript—you write production-quality code
- Proven experience building testing infrastructure from scratch: frameworks, CI/CD integration, custom tooling
- Deep expertise with modern test tools: Playwright, Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library, or similar
- Strong understanding of software architecture and how to design maintainable, scalable test frameworks
- Experience testing both modern and legacy systems, including database-heavy applications and API integrations
- Experience with RESTful APIs, SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), and backend testing
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues and flaky tests
- Strong communication and mentoring abilities—you can explain testing concepts clearly and teach others
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum with continuous integration and deployment
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing diverse tech stacks including React, Node.js, ColdFusion/Lucee, or other backend frameworks
- Experience with database testing and migrations across different database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), particularly related to sensitive personally identifiable information
- Experience testing offline-capable applications
- Experience with API contract testing, visual regression testing, or accessibility testing
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
- Background in testing legacy system modernization or incremental migration projects
- Experience with healthcare software or understanding of FHIR/HL7 standards is a plus
- Comfort using AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate test development

What We Do
ECP is a cloud-based software program for the senior living industry. The program has many unique features including electronic medication administration record (eMAR) that interfaces with pharmacies to sync med orders and reorder meds. It also has a complete care management program including integrated assessments, care plan wizard, point of care charting, alerts and reminders including emails and text messages, state mandated reports, marketing and billing.
ECP is touch screen friendly and can be used on PC, Mac, netbooks, tablet, and iPad operating systems. ECP supports thousands of communities world-wide.
ECP easily interfaces with LTC pharmacies. Resident information and medication orders are synced with the pharmacy improving communication and reducing medication administration errors. ECP is priced as a SAAS (software as a service) model reducing start-up costs for senior living communities. Users pay only for their current active occupancy level. ECP's customized settings meet the unique need of each company without custom programming. ECP allows quick creation of custom assessments and care plan libraries that automatically generate daily tasks for point of care charting.
