Job Description

As part of our Munich-based Ultrasound Workspace engineering team, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and integration of image management and workflow services within a cross-functional agile team. You collaborate closely with product owners, adjacent software teams and others to extend and evolve the Ultrasound Workspace platform in alignment with Philips quality, compliance, and architectural standards for a regulated environment.

A challenging task

You will design, implement, test, and deliver high quality backend features and services using Java, Spring, and related ecosystem technologies.

The team collaborates with other developing teams providing additional modules for the Ultrasound Workspace solution. New features are developed in close cooperation with product owners.

The team’s working language is German and English. If you don't know German – a desire to learn is appreciated.

Within this team, you will play an active part in shaping our product.

Your responsibilities

  • You will design, implement, test, and deliver new features as part of a cross-functional agile team.

  • You are expected to proactively challenge existing practices and continuously refine code, architecture, and tools to enhance the quality of software delivery.

  • You will assume full ownership of your solution, being responsible for its development, deployment, and operational support at the customer site.

  • You will ensure adherence to both internal guidelines and regulatory standards (such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304).

  • On occasion, you will provide assistance to our Service team to maintain the reliable operation of our product in the field.

A convincing background

  • You possess at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or have equivalent experience, along with a minimum of four years of professional software development experience.

  • You are comfortable navigating large codebases and collaborating effectively with fellow developers.

  • Following best practices, such as Clean Code principles, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and continuous integration is second nature to you.

  • You have previous experience working with Java and its technology stack.

  • You have first experience deploying applications in containers.

  • You understand web technologies and are open to further expanding your expertise in this area.

  • Your skill set includes a solid grasp of database technologies.

  • Experience with additional tools we use—like Hibernate, Kotlin, Gradle, or TypeScript—is a plus.

  • Knowledge of DICOM(web), HL7, and FHIR is beneficial due to our work in the medical field.

  • A willingness to learn new skills when needed is essential.

  • You view software development as a craft, regularly enhance your personal toolkit, and are willing to take responsibility.

  • As a team player, you communicate openly, share knowledge, and take full ownership of both your work and the overall product.
