The Role

This is a remote position; however, the candidate must reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: Boston, MA; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Dallas, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, WA; and Portland, ME

About the Role/Team

As a Senior Developer, you are expected to work in an Integrated engineering model, which means that you will be responsible for designing, creating, and testing new applications that fit with our team standards to execute and deliver projects efficiently, on time, and with the desired quality.

This role is ideal for a highly motivated software engineer who thrives in small, high-performing teams and is adaptable enough to take on various roles throughout the development cycle. You’re collaborative, communicate effectively, and work well with both team members and stakeholders. You care deeply about collective success, set your ego aside, and take full ownership of outcomes. You can confidently advocate for your ideas while fully supporting team decisions, even when they differ from your own. You’re a solid architect, designer, and developer, quick to adopt new technologies, and transition smoothly between tech stacks. You’re also comfortable working with cloud-based solutions like microservices, Lambda, EKS, and EC2. With experience contributing to agile teams delivering software iteratively, you understand how to move quickly while navigating the complexities of a highly regulated industry like payments.

  • Design and develop new applications

  • Design and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality

  • Identify and implement CI/CD methodology and philosophies for existing and new applications and services

  • Expand the team’s knowledge base on automation

Experience you’ll bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of development experience in Java 8 (or above) or similar language (C#)

  • Experience with writing unit tests

  • 2+ years of experience automating Cloud-based applications and services

  • Experience with Multi-cloud solutions - Azure, Google, Amazon

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery

  • Experience with one or more of the following: AWS Cloud Formation, Kubernetes (K8S), TerraForm, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, ADO, and Puppet

Nice to have
  • 2+ years of experience developing infrastructure as code

  • Experience working on agile teams to deliver software iteratively

  • Experience with Test automation and Automation Software

  • Experience with Atlassian tools like Confluence and JIRA

  • Experience with designing and architecting applications

  • Experience with Linux, containerization, and container orchestration like Kubernetes

  • Experience with logging, metrics, and monitoring tools like DataDog and Splunk

  • Experience with the fuel business and transaction processing

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
