Description
As a Lead Flight Control Engineer - Tactical Munitions, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the flight control and guidance algorithms that power our innovative solutions. Specifically, you will be a key driver on a new electrical tactical munition project. Working closely with the system, hardware, and vision teams, you will guide the platform's flight dynamics from early R&D phases through to field-proven maturity, ensuring it is highly maneuverable and pinpoint accurate.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the design, simulation, and implementation of advanced flight control algorithms for a high-dynamic, tube-launched platform flying at 100m/s.
- Develop and maintain 6-DOF mathematical models of the system's flight dynamics and aerodynamic responses through rapid iterations.
- Integrate flight control loops with the electro-optical computer vision system to enable a seamless "Fire-and-Forget" terminal homing phase.
- Deploy, configure, and tune control laws using Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulations prior to live testing.
- Analyze flight logs and telemetry data from weekly tactical field tests to optimize flight envelopes and resolve dynamic anomalies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure control algorithms translate into robust technical solutions on physical microcontrollers.
- 5+ years of experience in flight control, guidance, or navigation algorithms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field (M.Sc. is an advantage).
- Deep knowledge of flight dynamics, kinematics, and modern control theory.
- Proven experience leading the development of control laws for UAVs, loitering munitions, or FPV platforms through rapid prototyping.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with FPV drone development and operations - a strong advantage.
Skills Required
- 5+ years of experience in working on real-time multidisciplinary systems
- development in C++ / Rust / Python
- Strong experience developing production software for robotics, drones, or autonomous systems
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, and system-level debugging
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical degree
- Experience with PX4 / Ardupilot, ROS2
- Hands-on experience in DIY projects
