Job Description

As a Senior Software Developer, you will shape the digital experiences that millions of sports fans rely on every single day.

The Sports Integration team builds the dynamic user interfaces that bring the Sports Platform to life. This involves delivering seamless live event streaming, intuitive geo-location flows, and real-time notifications. High-performance frontends are built in React, focusing on rendering efficiency and state management to ensure a lightning-fast, flawless user experience across web and mobile, even during peak traffic events.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to build and maintain complex frontend architectures, contribute to real-time notification features, and optimise UI performance under heavy data loads. We look for developers who are eager to learn, comfortable picking up new technologies, and passionate about crafting intuitive user journeys. Our collaborative team values knowledge-sharing and mentorship.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the company’s hybrid work from home policy.

Qualifications

  • Ability to build resilient applications that support millions of users during peak sporting events, ensuring streaming, search, and real-time notifications remain responsive under heavy data loads.
  • Expertise in delivering real-time data without compromising on usability, creating a seamless experience across web, Apple, and Android applications.
  • Focus on rendering efficiency, state management, and writing code that maintains a fluid experience under the pressure of a global, 24/7 live sports environment.
  • Fluency in modern languages and frameworks, specifically React and TypeScript.
  • Exposure to cloud environments like GCP, with an understanding of how frontend applications are built, deployed, and served at the edge to ensure global availability.

Additional Information

  • Take ownership of complex frontend features and architectural decisions, driving them from concept to production-ready code.
  • Collaborate with architects and product teams to define frontend strategies, leveraging modern practices and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Monitor frontend performance metrics, troubleshoot UI bottlenecks, and work with QA to ensure applications remain rock-solid during busy betting windows.
  • Champion agile methodologies, delivering incremental improvements and ensuring smooth, high-quality deployments.
  • Maintain and elevate the quality of the React codebase by refactoring complex components, managing state efficiently, and addressing technical debt.
  • Evaluate new frontend patterns, frameworks, and tools, acting as a technical sounding board to share findings with the wider team.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior Engineers, guiding their technical development, leading code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
