As a Senior Software Cloud Engineer within the CRM Software organization, you will be involved in developing software supporting Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process.

Medtronic CRM Application Development teams develop the next generation medical technologies that save lives, improve quality of living for millions of patients across the world.  The CRM Software team is one of the most cutting-edge teams within Medtronic, working with various software technologies in application software, network software, mobile software, BT/BLE communication software, and interfacing with embedded software for management and control of implantable medical devices. 

The CRM Software team is seeking a proactive, self-motivated, and highly skilled software development engineer to lead the charge in building the next generation of CRM solutions. This role demands innovative thinking, a strong background in cloud-based software development, and a passion for creating robust, scalable systems that drive exceptional user experiences.

As a Senior Software Cloud Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and development of cutting-edge CRM software, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.

A Day in The Life Of:

  • Design and develop high integrity software for medical devices

  • Learn and understand software standards for medical devices

  • Participate in defining technical product requirements and high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms

  • Design, build, and test applications, distributed computing, and high-performance computing in Global Cloud Infrastructure as a Service environment

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Support design reviews to ensure requirements have been met and risks have been mitigated

  • Actively participate in scrum ceremonies -backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint demos and retrospectives

Key Skills & Experience  

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum NFQ level 8 Bachelor’s degree Computer Science/ Engineering or technically related

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Skills:

Cloud and Infrastructure Technologies

  • Experience in AWS technologies, including S3.

  • Experience in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Hands-on experience with microservice architecture, including maintaining high-performing distributed systems.

.NET and Application Development

  • Expertise in .NET 8 and above, leveraging cutting-edge features for enterprise-grade applications.

  • Proficiency in Entity Framework (EF6/EF Core) for optimized data access and management.

  • Strong C# programming skills, with a focus on building robust, scalable applications.

  • Proficiency in Java programming for cross-platform applications.

  • Expertise in designing and consuming REST APIs and Open API specifications.

Database Management

  • Experience in managing relational databases, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Knowledge of NoSQL datastores such as HBase and DynamoDB, with proven ability to implement flexible data models.

Testing and Continuous Integration

  • Experience in .NET testing frameworks.

  • Knowledge of building and maintaining Azure DevOps (AZDo) pipelines for CI/CD.

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Practical experience with SQL and Java.

  • Familiarity with SpecFlow and MS Test frameworks for behavior-driven development (BDD).

  • Proficiency with Visual Studio as a primary development environment.

  • Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git, BitBucket, and Azure DevOps.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
