Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or in a similar role supporting mission-critical, high-traffic environments. 
  • Strong programming experience with web technologies such as: 
    • Vue, Angular, or React 
    • NodeJS, Python, Go, or Java 
  • Proven experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management for complex systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing effective fixes. 
  • Thorough understanding of all stages of software development. 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience leading or mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of building relationships, educating peers, and influencing technical direction. 
  • In depth understanding and passion for excellence in the WWT Core Values
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or Management Information Systems; A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of the salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $108,400 to $135,500 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that are not included in the base pay.

About the ATC Development Team 

The ATC Development team is a software development team that builds and maintains wwt.com. Through this digital experience, we highlight the value of WWT and the ATC to our customers and partners. Our platform, wwt.com, showcases and enables a variety of ATC products, including the AI Proving Ground, Cyber Range, Labs & Learning, WWT Research, and more.  

In addition to product development, we collaborate closely with our Marketing team to elevate WWT’s digital presence and storytelling. Together, we deliver experiences that drive engagement, support go-to-market strategy, and translate customer behavior into actionable insights. As our platform evolves, we continue to innovate across both technology and marketing initiatives to create meaningful, measurable value for our customers. 

About the Role 

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a proactive technical expert focused on elevating the reliability and performance of the systems that power wwt.com. In this role, you’ll shape and enhance the infrastructure and services behind our digital platforms, working closely with development teams to address complex technical challenges. 

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you have experience building and supporting distributed systems at scale, and you excel at automating operational processes. You understand how reliability and performance directly impact our business and our users, and you use this perspective to guide your work and influence engineering decisions. You are hands-on, pragmatic, and approach technology decisions with an open mind. You’ll be the trusted advisor for reliability and operational excellence, frequently consulted on challenging and high-impact initiatives. You’ll help teams evaluate new projects and features through the lens of reliability and performance, ensuring that our systems are resilient, scalable, and deliver a seamless experience for our users. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the reliability and performance of wwt.com and our critical, high-traffic services. 
  • Drive improvements in key user experience metrics such as page load speed and interactivity. 
  • Develop and implement monitoring and alerting strategies to proactively identify and address issues before they impact users. 
  • Lead the triage and resolution of incidents, navigate complex production challenges, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions. 
  • Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to share knowledge, influence best practices, and foster a culture of reliability and continuous improvement. 
  • Write code to automate tasks and solve problems, reducing manual intervention and increasing efficiency. 
  • Plan and execute load testing to assess system scalability and performance, thoroughly investigate any issues uncovered, and implement effective solutions. 
  • Take ownership of reviewing penetration test results, collaborating with relevant teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure our platforms meet high security and reliability standards. 
  • Guide and mentor team members, providing technical leadership and helping shape engineering decisions. 
  • Stay curious and committed to learning, embracing a growth mindset and encouraging innovation across the team. 

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or similar role supporting mission-critical, high-traffic environments

  • Strong programming experience with backend languages (NodeJS, Python, Go, or Java)
  • Proven experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management for complex systems
