We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our SRE Squad. The team is responsible for governance and observability of the Oura Cloud Platform running on AWS infrastructure. We combine the power of the Oura Ring and the app with backend services and integrations to provide a data-rich and secure cloud platform. Our APIs power most Oura apps, services and machine learning components. Reliability and scalability of the cloud platform provide the technical foundation for our growth.
This is an on-site (Helsinki, Oulu) or remote Finland-based role.
You will:
- Develop and maintain the capabilities of our Identity and Access Management system that services both our members and a growing number of Oura Enterprise customers with specific requirements such as service-to-service authentication. This role presents a great opportunity to impact the evolution of identity management at Oura for both consumer and business customers.
- Take part in building other core services, such as our centralized messaging system, and build tooling, observability and fault tolerance for these cloud platform components.
- Produce high-quality documentation for your work.
- As an SRE Squad member, participate in running, monitoring and debugging issues within our cloud-based production systems, especially the IAM system.
- Test and release code in a fast and reliable manner using our deployment and dependency management tools. Contribute improvements to the tooling.
- Ensure that our cloud platform keeps adhering to security and compliance requirements.
- Advance the team’s culture of operational excellence, maintaining our SLOs.
- Optionally, take part in on-call duty (compensated)
We would love to have you on our team if you:
- Have experience with customer-facing, public cloud production deployments of IAM systems that implement OAuth and OIDC, such as Keycloak.
- Have an interest in further developing your skills in this domain.
- Know how to design for scale and growth, prepare for user demand peaks, and build fault-tolerant, secure systems.
- Have experience running, monitoring and debugging production systems at scale on AWS. (We run our services on AWS infrastructure, using key AWS technologies like EKS, ECS, DynamoDB, Aurora RDS, S3 and SQS.)
- Have a pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset, and can make reasonable tradeoffs between short-term goals and managing long-term tech debt.
- Have solid programming skills in at least one of TypeScript, Kotlin or Python.
- Have a good understanding of database management (SQL, especially PostgreSQL.)
