Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Settlements Analyst – Crude Oil to join our team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely settlement of crude oil transactions, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. The ideal candidate brings deep industry knowledge, strong analytical capabilities, and experience working across trading, scheduling, and accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end settlement processes for physical crude oil transactions, including trucks, pipeline, marine, and terminal movements
  • Review, interpret, and apply complex crude oil contracts (purchase and sale agreements, transportation agreements, tariffs, etc.)
  • Calculate and validate pricing, volumes, quality differentials, fees, and tariffs
  • Reconcile discrepancies between counterparties, internal systems, and third-party statements
  • Prepare and issue invoices, monitor receivables/payables, and resolve settlement disputes
  • Coordinate closely with trading, scheduling, risk, and accounting teams to ensure accurate transaction capture and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support month-end close processes, including accruals and reporting
  • Maintain and improve settlement processes, controls, and documentation
  • Assist in system implementations, upgrades, and process automation initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Energy Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in crude oil settlements, trading operations, or energy accounting
  • Strong understanding of physical crude oil markets, logistics, and pricing mechanisms (e.g., WTI, Brent, Argus, Platts)
  • Experience with pipeline and terminal operations, tariffs, and measurement standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a small team
  • Experience with ETRM/CTRM systems (e.g., WolfePak or similar)
  • Knowledge of U.S. crude oil regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, VBA)
