The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Senior Settlement Accountant. This position will be responsible for researching and resolving monetary exceptions across Network, Card and/or Account activity and settling funds with financial institutions. This includes overseeing the accurate exchange of funds and proper recording of all settlement transactions, to prevent company exposure to liability.
Day In The Life
- Leverage analytical skills to ensure accurate balancing and reconciliation of network, card and account transaction daily settlement while minimizing financial risk exposure.
- Use critical thinking skills in the process of accurately creating, balancing, and distributing settlement (including reconciliation items) to financial institutions via ACH, Federal Reserve and Direct file, while minimizing financial exposure.
- Leverage your knowledge by executing, embracing, and championing the continuous improvement of settlement function documentation & settlement controls.
- Responsible for the research and resolution of complex settlement items that may have financial impact.
- Serving as a subject matter expert training internal and external clients on settlement.
- Review and extract data to analyze information obtained by other departments for settlement support for prompt resolution on member inquiries.
- Identifies and implements work process efficiencies. Provides training on various network processes and internal procedures to existing and new staff.
Qualifications:
- 4 year Associates Degree preferred or equivalent accounting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Settlement Operations process or related experience.
- Internal candidates must have a minimum of seven years related network operations experience.
- External candidates need ten years’ experience in accounting, settlement or related financial services
- Knowledge and solid working understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential.
- Possess Internal Controls, Financial Recordkeeping and Risk Management competencies.
- Advanced skills using MS Windows, Word, Excel, and database software applications required.
