MMR Research Worldwide has big plans for our China operation, and we’re looking for a proactive and ambitious individual to join our growing sensory team as a Senior Sensory Consultant! 
This role will oversee the analytical sensory program for a key client, ensuring the delivery of high-quality sensory insights, effective panel operations, and strong client relationships. This on-site, full-time role is pivotal in supporting innovation and maintaining scientific rigor for both MMR and its clients. 
 
The role will be based on-site at the client’s facility (Gumei Road, Shanghai).  

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the sensory panel and lead panel sessions on clients’ projects, to ensure smooth delivery of sensory research and consistently deliver high-quality descriptive analysis data.
  • Liaise with the Sensory Panel Assistant to be fully proficient with the preparation and facilitation of the sensory panel and product management. 
  • Recruit and train new panelists to keep panel numbers at a required level. 
  • Collect and analyze panel monitoring data on each project and provide relevant feedback and one-to-one reviews with sensory panelists in order to maximize data quality, and panel engagement and motivation.  
  • Assist with product preparation and serving as required for the smooth running of projects. 
  • Complete administrative duties related to the sensory panel (e.g. timesheets, scheduling, coordinating panelists and panel sessions). 
  • Recommend methods to address questions and objectives, act as internal consultant to client Sensory team on research design, collaborating with Global sensory teams to ensure alignment. 
  • Interact with client Sensory Team to ensure panels are meeting company goals. 
  • Analyzing data, writing reports. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • BS in Sensory, Food Science, Psychology or a related field. 
  • 3 years of industry experience. 
  • Sound knowledge and experience in a range of analytical sensory analysis methods applied to food & beverage categories, and descriptive panel leadership and supervisory role in sensory team.
  • Spectrum Method knowledge and skills is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • High level of competency in sensory-related software for session preparation, data collection, dashboard use, and analysis (experience in Compusense or similar platforms preferred).  
  • Strong client management skills, building effective relationships, proactively communicating project status, understanding client objectives, and presenting sensory results and recommendations clearly. 
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with global teams and being flexible across timezones. 
  • Great attention to detail, with the ability to check own work and others' work for inconsistencies and take the necessary action to rectify any errors.

Skills Required

  • Sensory panel leading experience, including descriptive analysis
  • Experience with sensory data capture software (IT literate)
  • Sensory project management and research design experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to recruit and train panelists
  • Willingness to work flexibly across time zones
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology, Sociology or relevant field
  • Logical and analytical mindset with great attention to detail
