Through collaboration with our many stakeholders, your goal is to create optimized automation concepts utilizing FANUC robots, dispense equipment, machine vision, and associated process technologies. Your role ensures proposed solutions meet customer requirements while minimizing risk and supporting successful execution through simulation, cycle time analysis, reach studies and process validation. You must be a technically strong automation engineer with extensive RoboGuide experience and strong knowledge of robotic dispensing applications used in the OEM Automotive environment.
How Its Done
- Develop detailed RoboGuide simulations to support customer proposals, concept development, and feasibility studies
- Create process studies, perform robot reach analyses, cycle time studies, throughput calculations, pressure drop calculations, and layout evaluations
- Design and evaluate automation zones for robotic sealing, skiving, plugging, or any other operations in the automotive paint shop
- Collaborate with Sales and Proposal teams to develop technical solutions that align with customer specifications and business objectives
- Analyze customer requirements, RFQs, Scope of Work documentation, specifications, and production targets to develop optimized system concepts
- Support proposal generation through preparation of technical scope documentation, assumptions, risk assessments, and engineering deliverables
- Evaluate robot selection, tooling concepts, dispense equipment requirements, vision integration, and process considerations
- Develop customer presentations demonstrating proposed solutions and the advantages of FANUC technologies and methodologies
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies prior to project award
- Generate engineering hour estimates and technical resource requirements to support proposal costing activities
- Maintain simulation standards, templates, and best practices to improve proposal consistency and efficiency
- Participate in application development and testing within the Sealer Lab environment
- Create internal training materials and mentor developing engineers in RoboGuide simulation techniques
- Analyze test results and prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations that identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and performance enhancement for engineering teams, management, suppliers, and customers
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging dispense technologies, automation systems, and process improvements
- Plan, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing for sealer dispense materials, dispense and vision equipment, and process applications
- Develop and perform test protocols (DoE) to evaluate dispensing performance, process capability, material behavior, and application quality
- Travel as required to customer facilities, internal facilities, trade shows and industry events
