We’re looking for a Senior SDET to join a project at a leading data-intelligence company that enables organisations to “do more with trusted data”. Their platform spans data catalog, governance, quality, AI governance and observability — helping businesses turn data into a strategic asset.
In this role you’ll combine deep test engineering competence with strong software-engineering skills. You’ll build automation frameworks, drive a shift-left testing mindset across Agile teams, and help raise the bar for quality across the stack.
What you will do:
- Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts (Java, Playwright/TypeScript) for UI, API and backend-oriented systems.
- Integrate and optimise CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated testing is embedded into the delivery flow.
- Define what to test, how to test it and when — guide the team on test strategy (smoke, regression, end-to-end).
- Collaborate with developers, product managers and operations to troubleshoot defects, improve observability/testability and reduce bottlenecks.
- Perform exploratory testing, analyse customer-reported issues and use findings to enhance automation coverage and test design.
- Advocate for quality: you’ll initiate improvements in test practices, help build culture and push for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in test engineering with strong software engineering capability.
- Proven ability to write, maintain and refactor automated tests/frameworks in Java and/or Python.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright.
- Solid experience working with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions/Jenkins or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/GCP), containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Understanding of network / security controls (authentication, async behaviours) and how this impacts test design.
- Strong troubleshooting skills: reading stack traces, detecting flaky results (wrong version, credentials, connection issues), isolating root causes of failures.
- You know how to work with unstructured teams and environments: you are self-driven, proactive and able to operate with minimal guidance.
- Good communication and collaboration skills — you’ll influence across engineering, product and QA.
- English fluency (written & spoken).
Nice to have:
- Experience in data governance, metadata platforms or data-intelligence solutions.
- API contract testing experience, performance/sub-system testing for large-volume data.
- Experience shaping test dashboards, tracking test metrics, flaky-test monitoring.
- Exposure to security testing, cloud native QA practices or observability/instrumentation in test frameworks.
