About The Role
The senior scientist/principal scientist on our proteomics team will be pivotal in establishing and extending the impact of our diverse platform, while contributing to drug discovery. This role will be responsible for designing and executing large scale proteomics experiments aimed at unraveling drug mechanisms, discovering biomarkers, and uncovering novel targets. A key piece of this role will be in generating and delivering transformational datasets that deliver novel biological insights through AI/ML.
About You
You have a successful track-record of using state-of-the-art instruments and innovative methods to publish high impact work at the interface of MS proteomics and human disease. You are excited about establishing and applying cutting edge proteomics technology to drug discovery within a multidisciplinary environment. You have extensive experience using MS proteomics and related methods to generate large-scale datasets with impact spanning the scientific community. You are driven by a fundamental interest to learn, develop new technologies and contribute to drug discovery as part of a collaborative in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do and Learn
- Design, execute, and analyze large scale proteomics experiments aimed at identifying biomarkers, elucidating drug mechanisms, identifying novel insights into disease biology, and supporting the training and validation of AI/ML models.
- Use primary cells, patient samples, and disease relevant engineered cell models to generate data that inform drug discovery.
- Analyze, interpret, and present scientific findings at research meetings. Provide scientific input and shape experimental strategy.
- Collaborate and communicate across diverse technology development and drug discovery research teams to successfully achieve scientific goals.
- Identify emerging proteomics methods/technologies, establish them within the company and demonstrate their value for drug discovery.
- Contribute to scientific publications, patents, and presentations to disseminate research findings both internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D and minimum 3 years postdoctoral experience in proteomics, molecular biology, immunology, or related fields.
- Experience in designing, executing and delivering large scale proteomics experiments that yielded biologically meaningful datasets at scale.
- A record of publishing high impact scientific manuscripts involving complex datasets derived from disease relevant model systems and/or clinical samples.
- Working knowledge of sample preparation (e.g. immunoprecipitation, proximity labeling, phospho-peptide enrichment) and analytical MS instrumentation.
- Experience with analyzing proteomics data using commercial and open-source software tools.
- Enthusiasm for data analysis and software development, with demonstrated expertise in Python and/or R.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute computational analysis in accordance with best-in-class scientific standards and practices to ensure robust, reproducible results.
- Understanding of statistics relevant to omics data analysis, including experimental design, handling of multiple comparisons, and mitigation of batch effects.
- Team-oriented and highly collaborative with a hands-on approach; takes ownership of projects and advances them with a strong sense of urgency in a startup environment.
Compensation
The specific compensation package for this role depends on experience, qualifications and level. We anticipate the compensation range to be $114,000 to $177,000 per year.
