Job Description
HI-Bio, Inc., a Biogen company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a background in discovery biology to drive the discovery and validation of novel therapeutic targets in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to deep dive into the biology of prospective targets and will have the opportunity to make highly visible contributions to multiple target discovery programs.
What You’ll Do
- Set up new workflows and directly contribute to drive novel target discovery and validation for immune mediated diseases.
- Set up and perform cell-based assays to establish proof-of-concept of prospective targets and their appropriateness for use in novel therapeutic concepts to address mast cell mediated conditions. Where appropriate, contribute to in vivo studies for additional validation.
- Establish outsourcing strategy for specialized experimental methods as needed to complement in-house work.
- Contribute to HI-Bio discovery programs by developing novel and innovative therapeutic strategies to address autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
Who You Are
You are passionate about novel target discovery and validation for targeted therapies. You have the ability to identify and execute on the critical experiments for a quick determination of how a prospective target should be prioritized.
This position is based in South San Francisco, California and required frequent onsite presence. Candidates must be within commutable distance or able to self-relocate to be considered.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Ph.D. degree in biology, immunology, or related scientific field with 2-5 years of industry experience. Candidates without a Ph.D. with extensive, highly-related experience will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience with novel target discovery using “omics” datasets and target validation of prospective hits is required.
- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in discovery biology as demonstrated by publications, patents, or pipeline contributions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with setting up novel workflows for generating RNA-seq datasets and cell-based assay development for target validation is highly preferred.
- Management of CROs is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with mast cell biology, immune mediated diseases or bispecific antibody characterization is considered a plus.
Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is $121,000 - $175,000. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
