As Senior Scientist, Data Science, this role provides technical leadership to build and strategically advance data‑driven and AI‑based approaches for cell line development, upstream process development, and genetic combination analysis. The position focuses on developing and operationalizing predictive models and scalable MLOps workflows using Cytiva’s Scientific Data Platform, while working in close collaboration with a global network of Data Scientists across Cytiva and Danaher. The role also leads cross‑functional projects in partnership with R&D, IT, Quality, and Regulatory teams to enable compliant, data‑driven decision making across the cell line development workflow.

What you will do

  • Develop and apply advanced ML and statistical models (e.g. regression, tree‑based, Bayesian, DoE) to support mammalian cell line and upstream process R&D.

  • Take ownership of building and operating end‑to‑end ML workflows and a scalable data science and MLOps infrastructure, spanning data ingestion, feature engineering, model deployment, and monitoring.

  • Leverage Cytiva’s Scientific Data Platform (Signals, TetraScience, scientific data lake) and cloud environments (AWS/Azure) for compliant analytics.

  • Design scalable data engineering pipelines connecting lab instruments, ELN, and analytics layers.

  • Lead and manage cross‑functional projects across R&D, IT, Quality, and Regulatory, including planning, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment.

Who you are

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Biotechnology, or a related field with several years of hands‑on experience applying machine learning and data analytics in life sciences or biopharma.

  • Strong programming skills in Python, experience with SQL, and modern ML framework, experience in building data pipelines (Linux, Docker, CI/CD).

  • Ability to work across disciplines and build strong working relationships with IT, scientists, and engineers.

  • Demonstrated ability to build new teams and capabilities, including shaping ways of working and technical standards.

  • Proficient English language oral and written skills, German would be a plus.

It would be a plus if you also have experience in

  • Mammalian cell line development in an R&D or early development setting.

  • Viral vectors (AAV preferred) or advanced bioprocess development.

  • Aanalyzing NGS datasets (short and long-read sequencing).
