Computational Chemist, Senior Scientist

We’re seeking a Computational Chemist to join the Schrodinger Therapeutics Group as a Senior Scientist in our mission to transform the discovery of therapeutics and materials! 

Our drug discovery group of over 60 scientists includes designers, modelers, computational chemists, medicinal chemists, crystallographers, biochemists, and biologists with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large scale computer infrastructure. Four of the programs we’ve worked on in the past seven years have progressed into the clinic; two are still progressing through trials and two have been approved by the FDA. 

This employee will be hired at the Senior Scientist level.

Who will love this job: 

• A structure-based drug designer who has experience in at least two of the following molecular modeling areas: virtual ligand screening, computationally-driven lead optimization, AI/machine learning, molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, cheminformatics, ADMET/QSPR 
• An excellent communicator with experience in one or more other disciplines of relevance to drug discovery, such as synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, formulation, biochemistry, physical chemistry, or analytical chemistry 
• A team player who enjoys working in interdisciplinary environments and has some background in programming/scripting and/or chemically-aware databases 
• An accomplished pharma/biotech professional 

What you’ll do: 

• Support active drug discovery projects as a computational chemist/modeler 
• Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams in multiple languages, accounting for differences in time zone and work culture
• Work closely with internal software development teams to improve our drug discovery technologies 

What you should have: 

• PhD in computational chemistry, organic chemistry, or physical chemistry
• Postdoctoral experience and/or at least one year of industry experience is preferred
• Business level proficiency in English and Mandarin
• Business level proficiency in Japanese preferred, but not required

求める人物像

• 構造に基づく創薬・分子設計の経験を有し、以下の分子モデリング分野のうち、少なくとも２分野で実務経験をお持ちの方
  バーチャルリガンドスクリーニング、計算化学を活用したリード最適化、AI・機械学習、分子動力学、量子力学、ケモインフォマティクス、ADMET予測・定量的構造物性相関（QSPR)
• 優れたコミュニケーション能力を備え、合成有機化学、薬理学、毒性学、製剤学、生化学、物理化学、分析化学など、創薬に関する他の専門分野においても、1分野以上の経験をお持ちの方
• 多様な専門性を持つメンバーとの協働を楽しみ、チームワークを大切にできる方。また、プログラミング・スクリプティング、また化学構造情報を扱うデータベースに関する基礎知識や経験をお持ちの方
• 製薬企業またはバイオテクノロジー企業で実績を積まれた方

主な業務内容

• 計算化学・分子モデリングの専門家として、進行中の創薬プロジェクトを支援する
• 時差や働き方・文化の違いを踏まえ、複数の言語を用いて、グローバルかつ部門横断的なチームと協働する
• 社内のソフトウェア開発チームと緊密に連携し、当社の創薬技術の改善、高度化に貢献する

応募資格

必須要件

• 計算化学、有機化学、または物理化学の博士号
• ビジネスレベルの英語力および中国語

歓迎要件

• 博士研究員として研究経験、または1年以上の企業での実務経験
• ビジネスレベルの日本語（必須レベルではありません）
