Senior Scientist / Applications R&D

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated Senior Scientist / Applications R&D to optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site.

Minimum Education Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree within a scientific major

Travel:

• Up to 20% (domestic/ global)

Required Experience (up to 5+ yrs):

• Cell culture and purification
• Viral vectors and protein antibodies
• Chemical/biological analysis/ synthesis
• Molecular biology
• Working within a GLP/cGMP environment
• Conducting laboratory experiments
• Project planning and execution
• Reading, analyzing and interpreting technical journals, financial reports and/ or legal documents
• Business level written/ verbal communication skills
• SME level presentation skills
• Analytical/ problem-solving skills
• Gathering and creating market reports by conducting voice-of-customer (VOC) activities

Preferred Experience:

• Independently developing product application ideas and formulating concepts for testing and feasibility to commercialize products and processes involving recombinant proteins, antibodies, viral vectors, and mRNA.
• Biopharmaceutical industry experience
• Creating detailed project plans to simultaneously execute tasks for completing complex projects within the sla
• Employing innovative approaches to achieve objectives.
• Communicating and traveling to customer sites and/or company locations
• Performing and leading team members with laboratory experiments for cell growth, culture harvesting, molecular interaction studies, product stability studies, and sample analysis using bioanalytical techniques such as UV-spectrophotometry, ELISA, HPLC, and SDS-PAGE.
• Conducting hands-on experiments using purification chromatography systems such as affinity, ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction and mixed-mode chromatography.
• Compiling, analyzing and providing scientific interpretations of experimental data using statistical tools.
• Assembling key technical and application data into appropriate communication formats in support of presentations that position a company’s analytical findings, project outcomes, and value propositions at internal or customer meetings, industry associations, and conferences.
• Identifying and implementing innovative approaches and new methodologies by reviewing literature and participating in discussions.
• Driving coordination and collaboration within R&D and cross-functional groups on key application strategies.
• Steering and participating in innovation/application strategy planning sessions.
• Project management.
• Complying with all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
• Interpreting a variety of information in written, verbal and diagram formats
• Utilizing collaborative decision-making skills
• Utilizing organization and prioritization skills

The Senior Scientist / Applications R&D will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists focused on the development of new products. With a strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive this role involves hands-on execution of laboratory studies and technology projects designed to support customer’s product needs; from conception to completion, in close collaboration with internal and external partners. In this dynamic position, the Scientist will provide technical services to customer’s application challenges by planning and defining project activities in partnership with Quality, Operations, Project Management, Strategic Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain.

This role will utilize novel scientific approaches and tools to advance execution of initiatives within a cross-functional environment, ensuring timely project completion. As part of the customer engagement model and service satisfaction, the Scientist will travel and work at customer sites to successfully implement applications.
