Position Summary
The Senior Scheduling Manager is a key member of the Field Operations management team and is responsible for leading planning and scheduling efforts across complex electrical construction projects, primarily within data center and mission critical environments. This role ensures project schedules are properly developed from the bid phase forward, accurately reflect scope and sequencing, and actively support field execution. The position works closely with Estimating/Preconstruction, Project Management, and field leadership to deliver scope-driven, resource-loaded schedules that improve planning, labor forecasting, and overall project performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as part of the Field Operations management team, supporting both field and office leadership.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee project schedules for electrical construction projects.
- Support Estimating and Preconstruction teams in developing a proper breakdown of scope during bid and pre-award phases.
- Help develop structured Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) defining scope by area and by system.
- Support the scheduling team in the development of bid schedules.
- Ensure schedules are properly resource-loaded and allow for leveling of budgeted labor hours.
- Provide upfront planning support that allows General Contractors to import scope breakdowns into the master project schedule.
- Manage schedulers assigned to projects and ensure they are actively supporting field teams.
- Ensure schedulers attend required project meetings and coordination sessions.
- Review and approve schedule updates, changes, and fragnets.
- Lead weekly scheduling meetings to review schedule health, critical path, float, and reporting.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to support field and office management and validate schedule accuracy.
- Assist with project schedule reviews with Clients and General Contractors.
- Participate in schedule review meetings to discuss scope completeness, sequencing, and appropriate roll-ups.
- Reinforce the importance of detailed scope breakdown for planning, leveling, and execution.
- Serve as Hiring Manager for Planning and Scheduling roles, including resume review, phone interviews, and in-person interviews.
- Mentor and develop scheduling staff to improve consistency, engagement, and performance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction scheduling, planning, or project controls.
- Strong experience supporting electrical construction projects; data center or mission critical experience preferred.
- Proven experience working closely with Estimating, Preconstruction, and Field Operations teams.
Skills & Abilities
- Expert proficiency with Primavera P6, including resource loading and labor leveling.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction sequencing and manpower planning.
- Ability to develop executable schedules that support field operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze schedule impacts and communicate risks and mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Requires mobility within an office environment.
