Primoris T&D provides construction, maintenance, and engineering of electric Transmission, Distribution, and Substation infrastructure. Ancillary services include wireless telecommunication installation, environmental cleanup, project management, and storm restoration services.

The Senior Scheduler/Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated, portfolio-level view of all programs and projects. The Senior Scheduler/Planner partners closely with program managers, project managers, and functional teams to drive schedule integrity, identify risks, and support data-driven decision-making. This role ensures alignment of schedules across the Transmission and Substation portfolio, enabling leadership to understand interdependencies, optimize resource utilization, manage risks, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery.

The Senior Scheduler/Planner enables Project Teams and leadership to see the full picture of execution across the enterprise. By integrating schedules, identifying dependencies, and providing actionable insights, this role drives improved predictability, optimized resource utilization, and stronger alignment between execution and strategic objectives, ultimately contributing to organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain detailed integrated master schedules (IMS) for programs and projects within the Transmission and Substation Portfolio.
  • Translate scope, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project plans into logical, resource-aligned schedules.
  • Ensure schedules are current, accurate, and aligned with delivery objectives and contractual milestones.

Planning & Coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather inputs and define sequencing, dependencies, and durations.
  • Facilitate schedule planning sessions with stakeholders to validate assumptions and align timelines.
  • Integrate schedules across multiple projects into a cohesive program-level view.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate schedule status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders, including customers.
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with customers to ensure schedule validity and project readiness.
  • Act as a key advisor to program leadership on timeline feasibility and execution strategy.

Forecasting & Analysis

  • Develop forward-looking schedule forecasts and what-if scenarios to support decision-making.
  • Analyze schedule performance metrics (e.g., baseline variance, forecast accuracy).
  • Provide insights into delivery risk, capacity constraints, and timeline feasibility.

Schedule Reporting

  • Perform critical path analysis, float assessment, and communicate schedule risks, dependencies, and trade-offs in a clear, actionable manner.
  • Identify schedule risks, constraints, potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Produce regular schedule status reports, dashboards, and executive-level summaries.

Risk & Change Management

  • Support risk management by identifying schedule-related risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate change requests for impact on timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain schedule baselines and track deviations, ensuring proper documentation of changes.

Tooling & Data Management

  • Leverage scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, or similar tools) to maintain integrated schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of schedule data across all projects.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement of scheduling processes and reporting.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in project, program, or portfolio scheduling/planning roles.
  • Strong proficiency in scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, or equivalent).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of critical path method (CPM), dependencies, and schedule forecasting
  • Experience working in complex, multi-project or enterprise portfolio environments
  • Familiarity with resource loading, earned value management (EVM), and forecasting
  • Familiarity with resource management, capacity planning, and schedule governance
  • Advanced analytical skills, including scenario modeling and data visualization
  • Strategic thinking and portfolio-level perspective
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
