About the role:


The Senior Salesforce Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for strategizing, architecting, developing, and administering Kong's go-to-market (GTM) technology stack, primarily focusing on Salesforce. This role encompasses the integration of systems and tools utilized by sales, marketing, customer success, services, and support teams to generate leads, progress and close deals, manage customer relationships, and provide support.


In this capacity, you will deliver multiple concurrent, high-impact projects across cross-functional teams. You're expected to drive development and configurations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. Additionally, you will develop and implement a GTM technology and architecture strategy that aligns with Kong's overall business goals, evaluate and select new technologies and tools to support the GTM team, ensure the efficient and effective use of GTM systems and tools, partner with cross-functional teams to identify and solve GTM challenges, and drive continuous improvement of the GTM technology stack.


We are seeking a leader with extensive GTM domain knowledge and operational experience, and a proven track record of driving business growth. You will join a small, talented team of builders laying the foundation for scalable operations. This global role reports to the Director of GTM Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality Salesforce solutions, including custom apps, integrations, and workflows, that meet business requirements.
  • Implement integration with other enterprise systems and third-party applications, and automate business processes using Salesforce tools.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define system requirements, customize the platform, and maximize the utility of Salesforce technology.
  • Maintain a holistic view of all business processes and users to understand cross-functional impacts regarding configuration, process, workflow, and reporting.
  • Lead the implementation of new Salesforce features and functionalities, ensuring the platform's stability and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all security standards and policies in Salesforce implementations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions focusing on user experience and business value.
  • Stay up-to-date with Salesforce releases, features, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain system integrity, security, and scalability in coordination with Engineering, IT, and operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve GTM workflow disruptions.
  • Drive the execution and completion of projects, ensuring high-quality technical and process design and implementation.
  • And any additional tasks required by manager.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Salesforce development, including custom Apex coding, Salesforce Lightning, Flow/low-code, and API integrations.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality, with Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I/II) highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and document complex Salesforce solutions in a scalable and maintainable manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, focusing on delivering high-quality, user-centered solutions.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools, such as Jira.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of CRM and related systems, specifically Salesforce's Sales Cloud, Salesforce CPQ, and Service Cloud.
  • Proficiency in modern GTM tech stack architecture and integrations, especially tools such as Marketo, Tableau, Hightouch, Fivetran, AWS, and other sales engagement or support tools.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing GTM technology roadmaps aligned with business goals.
  • Solid experience in cross-functional collaboration, notably with sales, marketing, support, and IT departments.
  • A passion for continuous improvement in GTM processes and technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's preferred

Kong has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to specific candidate location, role, skill set and level of experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards including sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role. Benefits may vary depending on location. US based employees are typically offered access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short and long term disability benefits, basic life and AD&D insurance, among others. The typical base pay range for this role in the US is $160,000 - 180,000.
