Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Sales Tax Analyst to join our Tax team. This role will support G-III Apparel Group and its subsidiaries with sales and use tax compliance, account reconciliations, audits, and related indirect tax matters. The Senior Sales Tax Analyst will prepare and file sales and use tax returns for assigned G-III entities while maintaining accurate tax rates and taxability determinations within company systems. The ideal candidate has strong sales and use tax knowledge, accounting experience, and the ability to manage multiple filing deadlines in a complex, multi-state environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and timely file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for G-III Apparel Group and its subsidiaries, including related tax payments.
  • Prepare sales and use tax account reconciliations and monthly journal entries; investigate and resolve reconciling items.
  • Review transactions for proper sales and use tax treatment and identify potential tax liabilities, overpayments, or process issues.
  • Maintain sales tax rates, taxability rules, exemption information, and other relevant tax data within the Company's ERP and tax systems.
  • Support the administration and ongoing maintenance of Avalara AvaTax and related sales tax processes.
  • Assist with state and local sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation, reconciling data, preparing schedules, and responding to information requests.
  • Maintain the Company's good standing with state and local taxing jurisdictions with respect to sales and use tax registrations, business licenses, and other required filings.
  • Assist with the preparation and timely filing of use tax self-assessments and related payments.
  • Review and reconcile eCommerce sales activity between the Company's ERP, tax, eCommerce, and banking/payment systems as necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and filing systems for tax returns, payments, registrations, licenses, audit support, and related correspondence.
  • Assist with sales and use tax registrations and changes resulting from new entities, locations, business activities, or changes in company operations.
  • Research sales and use tax issues and assist in determining appropriate tax treatment in a multi-state environment.
  • Develop and maintain reconciliation procedures and controls for sales and use tax accounts and transactional data.
  • Assist with special projects and other federal, state, and local indirect tax matters as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Taxation, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience preparing sales and use tax returns in a multi-state environment.
  • Experience supporting sales and use tax audits.
  • Experience within retail, wholesale, and/or eCommerce businesses preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sales and use tax concepts and the ability to apply those concepts across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, including experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, Pivot Tables, and data filtering/manipulation.
  • Ability to work with large transactional datasets and identify discrepancies or unusual items.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and an understanding of how transactional data flows through accounting and tax systems.
  • Experience with Avalara AvaTax or a similar sales tax determination/compliance system preferred.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP software preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

The pay range for this position is: $90,000 – $105,000 per year.
