About Abiomed

Abiomed is a leading provider of groundbreaking medical technology that provides circulatory and oxygenation support. The Impella® heart pump platform is designed to enable the heart to rest and recover by improving blood flow and/or temporarily assisting with the pumping function of the heart. 

The Opportunity

Join Abiomed at J&J as a Senior Sales Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

As Senior Sales Manager, ANZ, you will spearhead the expansion of Impella and Heart Recovery, driving their adoption as the new standard of care across the region. Through strategic therapy development, capability building, and customer engagement, you'll accelerate market growth, expand clinical access, and create a thriving network of Impella advocates and users.

The applicant may be located in VIC, NSW or QLD.

Responsibilities

  • Lead therapy development to make Impella and Heart Recovery the ANZ standard of care by training clinicians, deploying toolkits, and building regional peer networks.
  • Design and enforce clinical training and sign‑off pathways for physicians and support staff, tracking competency milestones and compliant documentation.
  • Drive account adoption by prioritizing target hospitals, coordinating with commercial teams, and enabling clinical readiness and case reporting at key centres.
  • Provide hands‑on clinical support in cath lab/OR/ICU, perform after‑action reviews, collect outcome data, and implement improvements to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Forge strong partnerships with commercial and clinical stakeholders through weekly alignment, quarterly strategy meetings, and shared quality‑improvement initiatives.
  • Travel across ANZ/APAC to monitor programs, lead trainings, support emergency cases, and scale therapy adoption regionally.

About You

  • Healthcare degree (BSc/MSc; PhD preferred) with 10+ years in healthcare/device and 5+ years clinical leadership.
  • Clinical expertise in cardiology/cardiac surgery; hands‑on support in cath‑lab, OR and ICU, including emergencies.
  • Design and deliver training, competency sign‑off and mentoring programs.
  • Data‑driven: collect and analyse outcomes, run after‑action reviews, and make compliant program decisions.
  • Strong communicator and influencer: public speaking, stakeholder alignment, and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Commercially savvy, results‑oriented, collaborative, and willing to travel across ANZ/APAC.
