The Work You'll Do:

Sovos is the always-on tax compliance company — helping more than 100,000 customers, including half the Fortune 500, navigate an increasingly complex and digitised global tax landscape. As governments worldwide accelerate mandates around e-invoicing, Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC), and real-time reporting, our partner ecosystem has never been more critical to our mission.

We're looking for a technically sharp, partner-focused Sales Engineer to join our Alliances & Partners team. In this individual contributor role, you'll be the primary technical resource for our growing ecosystem of resellers, GSIs, ERP partners, and technology alliances — empowering them to confidently position, demo, and co-sell the Sovos Tax Compliance Cloud. Your success is measured not by deals you close, but by how capable and effective you make our partners.

More specifically, you will:

  • Serve as the go-to technical expert for Sovos' strategic alliance and channel partners — including ERP partners like SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, and Epicor, as well as GSIs, ISVs, and regional resellers
  • Design and deliver technical enablement programmes — workshops, integration training, sandbox labs, and certification prep — so partner teams can independently demo and articulate the value of the Sovos platform
  • Develop and maintain partner-facing technical content: architecture guides, integration playbooks, connector documentation, demo environments, and solution FAQs
  • Conduct joint technical discovery and solution design sessions alongside partner account teams on active opportunities, particularly around ERP migration, S/4HANA transitions, and e-invoicing mandates
  • Act as the technical bridge between partners and Sovos Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams — channelling partner feedback to influence the roadmap
  • Support partner onboarding by guiding technical teams through API integrations, ERP connectors, and Sovos Compliance Cloud configuration
  • Track partner technical competency across the ecosystem; proactively identify gaps and build programmes to close them
  • Represent Sovos at partner events, QBRs, and industry conferences as a technical thought leader on tax compliance technology
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance enablement content development, technical documentation, and partner engagement

 

What We Need From You

  • 4+ years in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or pre-sales technical role, ideally within enterprise SaaS or tax/compliance technology
  • Prior experience working within or alongside a channel, alliance, or partner ecosystem strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms — particularly SAP (R/3, ECC, S/4HANA), Oracle, or NetSuite — and how tax engines integrate with them
  • Ability to translate complex tax compliance and regulatory concepts for both technical audiences (developers, architects) and business stakeholders (tax directors, CFOs)
  • Demonstrated track record of building enablement content and delivering technical training
  • Comfortable owning partner relationships and programmes independently
  • Genuine curiosity about the intersection of tax regulation, digital transformation, and enterprise technology
  • Nice to have: experience with indirect tax, VAT, e-invoicing, sales & use tax, or information reporting concepts; familiarity with the Sovos Compliance Cloud, Sovos S1 Platform, or competitor solutions (Vertex, Avalara); experience with partner portals, LMS, or enablement tools (Seismic, Highspot, etc.); knowledge of global compliance mandates — CTCs, PEPPOL, SAF-T, or similar frameworks
  • Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire
