The Role

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Sales Engineer/Architect for our Resilient Network Practice. This position and work will be in Newark, NJ; open to candidates within a broader radius who can reliably travel to support onsite work in Newark.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hands on technical expertise with Mission Drivers within the Network Practice of the Digital Modernization (DigMod) Sector. As a Network Practice Sales Engineer/Architect , you’ll be a critical bridge between technical expertise and business development. Your role will focus on promoting Leidos Network solutions to federal clients, ensuring alignment with their needs and driving successful adoption of Leidos Mission Drivers. Duties may include developing innovative approaches and solutions, using non-quantitative tools and guidelines from experience. 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
No initial clearance is required to start; however, you must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. (US Citizenship required).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Expertise:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of network technologies (e.g., IaC, SD-WAN, wireless, NFV).
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Leidos Network Mission Drivers and be able to articulate technical benefits, features, and use cases to potential clients.
  • Stay informed about network trends, competitive landscape and emerging technologies to effectively position Leidos capabilities and offerings.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to enhance the Leidos offerings portfolio, leveraging your deep technical knowledge and industry insights.

Client Engagement:

  • Be the Network Practice Area technical Sales Engineer/Architect  that works with Leidos DigMod Sector CTO, Business Groups and Growth to identify customer requirements and propose tailored solutions and offerings.
  • Direct, conduct and participate in technical presentations, demonstrations and workshops for government customers.
  • Work with DigMod CTO organization to leverage and create sandbox, demonstration environments for hosting Network Practice repeatable offerings.
  • Develop and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers to drive strategic opportunities and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide consulting and thought leadership to influence client decision-making and drive project success.

Solution Architecture:

  • Partner with Leidos capture teams, solutions architects, and engineers to design secure, resilient, and scalable networking solutions that meet customer requirements, including MPLS-based transport, carrier-neutral facility interconnects, SD-WAN overlay architectures, and wireless access technologies, tailoring repeatable offerings accordingly.
  • Architect enterprise and mission-scale network solutions leveraging multi-cloud connectivity patterns, including hybrid and cross-cloud networking, secure cloud on-ramps, and integration with carrier-neutral data center ecosystems to support federal mission needs.
  • Design and oversee implementation of advanced segmentation strategies, including micro-segmentation and policy-based network controls, to enhance security posture, zero trust alignment, and workload isolation across on-premises, cloud, and edge environments.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex technical challenges across multiple sectors, applying deep expertise in SD-WAN overlays, wireless technologies, and multi-transport networking using creative problem-solving and advanced technical judgment.
  • Architect and govern the delivery of enterprise-scale network solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, client mission objectives, and evolving technology standards.
  • Champion network architecture best practices and drive continuous improvement of Leidos Network Practice offerings based on market trends, emerging technologies, and client feedback.
  • Serve as the lead technical contributor for proposal and RFx efforts, with primary responsibility for solution architecture, technical narratives, and pricing inputs related to network transport, cloud connectivity, and security segmentation strategies.
  • Deploy, maintain, and demonstrate Network Practice Repeatable Offerings, including SD-WAN, multi-cloud connectivity, wireless, and micro-segmentation capabilities, to internal business areas and current and prospective customers.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with practice area team members, client stakeholders, and external partners, including sub-contractors and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
  • Influence practice area and sector leaders on solution design and process improvements, advocating for strategic approaches and best practices.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive alignment and ensure the successful delivery of complex, multi-dimensional projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree with minimum of 15+ years in network architecture or engineering roles, with a robust background in designing, implementing, and optimizing solutions in network environments; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Extensive experience in NMS, multi-transport, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying scalable infrastructure incorporating cloud environments using both established and cutting-edge technologies. 
  • Proven track record of resolving complex technical challenges in Network architectures.
  • Strong leadership skills with a successful track record of leading teams in the implementation of Network solutions, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in dynamic Network environments.
  • Ability to obtain a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance from the US Government. Higher level clearances are desirable.

Pay Range:Pay Range $139,100.00 - $251,450.00
