About Securly
Securly is a K-12 EdTech company built around one mission: keeping students safe and well, both online and off. Our platform gives schools the infrastructure to filter and monitor web traffic, flag signs of self-harm or bullying, and support student wellness — all while giving IT teams tools that hold up on real school networks, not just in a demo. That mission runs straight through this role: the edge proxy appliance is core infrastructure sitting inside thousands of school networks, and it has to work every single school day, at scale, without fail.
We're a team of roughly 330 people across Pune, the US, and the UK, working across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to build and support that platform. Engineering in Pune plays a central role in building the systems that make Securly's safety mission possible — this isn't a satellite team, it's where core infrastructure like this gets built.
The Role
We're building the next generation of Securly's edge proxy appliance — the systems software running on hardware deployed across thousands of school networks. This is Rust close to the OS, the network stack, and the fleet update pipeline, with AWS on the other side of the wire.
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years hands-on production Rust in a systems or embedded context (not app/web Rust)
- 6+ years total engineering experience
- Systems/network programming — TCP stream handling, socket programming, transparent proxying
- Embedded Linux fundamentals — device drivers, kernel modules, cross-compilation, or hardware bring-up
- Docker/containerization for constrained/appliance deployment
- Performance testing and profiling — load testing, memory/CPU profiling, flame graph analysis
- Working knowledge of AWS and IaC concepts
Strongly Preferred: Named fleet/IoT/embedded device product on your resume, C/C++ or Go alongside Rust, eBPF/netfilter/HAProxy/Envoy exposure
Nice to Have: RADIUS, observability (CloudWatch/Splunk/SLOs)
Securly is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants receive consideration regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristic. #LI-Remote #LI-DO1
