We are looking for a Senior Router who is ready to support our transportation operation by developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery routes while helping ensure customer service expectations are met.
The primary function of this position is to schedule and sequence delivery routes in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using computerized routing programs.
Responsibilities include:
Utilize routing software to match customer orders with appropriate delivery routes, loads, and trucks.
Balance trailer loads based on product size, weight, and pallet configuration.
Build cost-effective routes while maintaining customer delivery requirements and service expectations.
Work closely with Transportation, Warehouse, and Sales teams to determine delivery feasibility.
Prepare and maintain daily reports, including route change requests, sequence change requests, and new customer requests.
Maintain routing system parameters within RoadNet, Mainframe, and other applicable transportation systems.
Review routing plans for operational efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.
Resolve routing and transportation issues of a non-routine nature with a higher level of independence.
Support and provide guidance to less experienced routing or transportation associates when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Internal: Transportation Supervisor, Transportation Manager, Sales associates, Warehouse associates, Delivery Drivers, Dispatchers, and department clerks
External: Customers
Work is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent interaction with Transportation and Warehouse operations.
The position may occasionally require work in warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas with varying temperatures.
Education / Training
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in routing, transportation, logistics, distribution, or a related environment required.
Strong computer skills, including data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, and system downloads.
Experience with routing and transportation systems such as RoadNet preferred.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to independently resolve a variety of non-routine transportation and routing issues.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Transportation, Warehouse, and Sales.
Ability to work scheduled hours and any required overtime.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between
