The Role
Design and build motion, route, coordination, and fleet-level planning software for large autonomous vehicles. Develop algorithms for collision avoidance, non-holonomic motion planning, shared-area sequencing, deadlock prevention, and dynamic vehicle assignments. Collaborate with controls and systems engineers to validate solutions during live deployments. The role requires on-site work five days weekly and schedule flexibility during testing.

About the company

Our client is a robotics and automation company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and build high-level planning software that lets multiple autonomous vehicles move efficiently and safely in real-world deployments. Work as an early member of a growing team, owning algorithms from concept through validation in live operations alongside controls and systems engineers.

What you'll do

- Develop trajectory and path planning software for large autonomous vehicles so they move smoothly and avoid needless stops.

- Design algorithms that sequence vehicles through shared areas to reduce overall wait time.

- Build coordination systems that manage several vehicles with overlapping routes while preventing deadlocks and collisions.

- Create fleet-level planning algorithms that turn changing site conditions into active assignments for each vehicle.

- Work with controls and systems engineers to validate planning approaches during live deployments, with some schedule flexibility during testing.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 5+ years of experience in robotics or autonomous systems engineering.

- A track record of shipping motion or route planning software for self-driving machines.

- Background in coordinating several agents at once or planning work across a fleet.

- Solid grounding in motion planning algorithms, including planning under non-holonomic constraints.

- Proficiency in Python and numerical computing libraries such as NumPy.

- Experience with computational geometry and collision detection.

- An undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical discipline such as robotics or computer science.

- Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to build processes from scratch.

- Ability to work on-site five days a week and keep a flexible schedule during deployments, including occasional late hours.

Bonus points

- Advanced degree with a focus on robotics or motion planning.

- Prior experience at a company building self-driving or robotic systems.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 176,000 to 240,000 per year

- Equity

- Annual performance bonus

- Health, dental and vision coverage

- Disability and life insurance
