Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
About the RoleRamp is looking for a Risk Operations Specialist to join our Underwriting team in Europe. You’ll help evaluate businesses applying to Ramp, make credit and risk decisions, and improve the systems we use to assess customers across our products.
This is an early regional role. You’ll work with teammates across Risk Operations, Credit Strategy, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support while helping define what great underwriting coverage looks like supporting EU and US applicants. The work requires sound judgment, comfort with financial data, and the ability to make clear decisions when information is incomplete. You’ll thoughtfully apply AI and automation to help the team move faster, improve consistency, strengthen review quality, and scale operations
The best candidates bring underwriting or credit risk experience, strong written judgment, and a high ownership bar. You should be comfortable working independently, documenting your reasoning, and improving the process as you learn where the gaps are.
What You'll DoReview new business applications and make underwriting recommendations across Ramp’s corporate card and bill pay products for EU and US applicants.
Analyze financial statements, bank data, bureau information, application details, and other risk signals to assess business health and repayment ability.
Recommend the right underwriting outcome, such as approval, decline, a lower limit, a request for more information, or another risk control.
Communicate with customers clearly and professionally when additional financial information or context is needed.
Maintain high-quality decisions while managing a queue with defined SLAs and quality expectations.
Build and improve underwriting documentation, workflows, and operating procedures as Ramp expands regional coverage.
Partner with Risk Strategy, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support to improve policies, tools, and customer experience.
Monitor underwriting outcomes and surface trends, gaps, or emerging risks that should inform policy or tooling changes.
Use AI and automation thoughtfully to improve speed, consistency, review quality, and operational leverage.
4+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk management, commercial lending, credit operations, or a related risk role.
Experience in corporate cards, small business cards, payments, invoices, lending, fintech, banking, or related financial services.
Strong financial analysis skills, including comfort reviewing financial statements, bank data, transaction activity, and other business health indicators.
Clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining sensitive underwriting decisions or requesting customer information.
Strong investigative judgment and the ability to make defensible decisions with incomplete or conflicting data.
Comfort operating independently in a fast-moving environment, especially as one of the first regional underwriting team members.
Strong attention to detail and discipline around documentation, quality, and SLA management.
Demonstrated AI fluency, including experience building and implementing AI-driven workflows.
Experience underwriting businesses in European markets or working with EU-based financial services customers.
Experience building or improving underwriting SOPs, risk playbooks, dashboards, or operational workflows.
Experience at a high-growth startup or scaling operations team.
SQL, Python, or analytics experience.
Experience working directly with Sales, Account Management, Customer Support, Product, Engineering, or Risk Strategy teams.
Experience supporting extended-hours, weekend, holiday, or regional coverage models.
Ramp serves customers across time zones, and this role is intended to expand our underwriting coverage outside standard US business hours. Candidates should be comfortable with a schedule that supports European customer needs and may include occasional weekend or holiday coverage depending on the final operating model.
