Position Overview

Broadcom is seeking an experienced Senior WiFi Application Engineer to join the Wireless Semiconductor Division organization supporting Broadcom’s industry-leading Wi-Fi connectivity solutions. This customer-facing role works closely with strategic OEMs, ODMs, chipset architects, software engineering, systems engineering, marketing, and field sales to enable successful integration and optimization of Broadcom Wi-Fi chipsets across consumer and enterprise, platforms.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in IEEE 802.11 technologies, RF systems, wireless protocol analysis,  with a proven ability to solve complex customer issues from product development through mass production.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface for strategic customers integrating Broadcom Wi-Fi chipsets.
  • Support design-in activities from concept through production for Broadcom wireless connectivity solutions.
  • Debug complex hardware, firmware, driver, and system-level issues involving Wi-Fi performance and interoperability.
  • Analyze customer logs, protocol traces, and RF measurements to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Work closely with chipset design, firmware, software, validation, and RF engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Optimize Wi-Fi throughput, latency, roaming performance, coexistence, and power consumption.
  • Provide technical guidance on:
    • IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6)
    • IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7)
  • Support RF performance characterization including:
    • EVM
    • Spectral Mask
    • ACLR
    • Output Power
    • Receiver Sensitivity
    • PER testing
  • Assist customers with board bring-up, software integration, driver configuration, and manufacturing support.
  • Create technical documentation, application notes, troubleshooting guides, and customer presentations.
  • Train customers and internal engineering teams on Broadcom wireless solutions.
  • Drive issue resolution across cross-functional engineering teams while managing multiple customer priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in wireless communications or application engineering.
  • Strong expertise with Wi-Fi technologies including:
    • 802.11ac
    • 802.11ax
    • 802.11be
  • Experience supporting Broadcom Wi-Fi chipsets in commercial products.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • MAC layer
    • PHY layer
    • RF architecture
    • Antenna systems
    • Coexistence (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth)
  • Strong RF measurement experience using:
    • Keysight
    • Rohde & Schwarz
    • LitePoint
    • Wireless protocol analyzers
  • Experience interpreting:
    • EVM
    • ACLR
    • Spectral Emission Mask
    • Receiver Sensitivity
    • PER
    • Throughput measurements
  • Excellent debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated customer-facing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Broadcom wireless connectivity chipsets and software architecture.
  • Knowledge of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi coexistence algorithms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise access points, routers, smartphones, or consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel drivers and embedded software development.
  • Experience with Python, shell scripting, or automation for wireless testing.
  • Understanding of RF front-end modules, FEMs, LNAs, PAs, filters, and antenna tuning.
  • Experience supporting Wi-Fi certification and regulatory compliance.
