Job Description:

The Senior Revenue Management Consultant supports the Ancillary Revenue Team by providing expert Revenue Management Leadership to highpriority commercial initiatives. They’ll design and Lead strategies that align people, assets, and network decisions to maximize ancillary and total revenue opportunities. They’ll ensure the Revenue Management perspective is embedded in commercial and enterprise decisions, informed by Customer preferences and willingness to pay. The Senior Revenue Management Consultant plays a key role in driving margin expansion, loyalty redemption strategy, and longterm financial sustainability while supporting Southwest’s Customerfriendly brand promise.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with executives to gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypothesis, develop and communicate recommendations, risks, issues, and influence business decisions
  • Research, develop, and build business cases for complex executive strategic, operational, technological, compliance, and other business opportunities and initiatives
  • Lead independent financial analysis efforts on multiple topics and act as the point person for executive updates, requests for information, questions, or special projects by performing deep-dive analytics across multiple topics
  • Define and manage strategic projects in support of ad hoc companywide initiatives, while managing multiple complexities and on-time deliverables
  • Identify opportunities to design new and refine existing analyses and processes to improve the Revenue Management team's productivity, accuracy, and efficiency over time
  • Work effectively across teams, listen well, consider diverse opinions, contribute fully to team’s success, drive consensus, and keep Commercials partners informed of developments on initiatives
  • Drive and influence business decisions through a comprehensive understanding of operational, financial, environmental, and/or industry drivers and variables
  • Structure complex and ambiguous problems and act to holistically solve them
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and lead meetings with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Develop well-written presentations that convey key information, including business cases, roadmaps and other materials that support alignment efforts
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives and lead meetings with key stakeholders at all levels

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of macro and microeconomic principles and practices
  • Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data by turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented and visualization software
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people by air and alternatives, including the relative costs and benefits
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with employees at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to communicate actions and plans to peers and leaders with supporting reasoning
  • Ability to adjust plans based on changing business trends, changing capabilities or changing priorities
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office including Excel/spreadsheets and writing SQL
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Expert level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:
    • Revenue Management principles and practices
    • Understanding of the commercial make up of Southwest Airlines or airline industry and how each department works together to drive success
    • Leading complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders at all levels
    • Presenting to Senior Executives
    • High level analytical problem solving
    • SQL and Relational databases (Teradata, Oracle, Access, etc.)
  • Preferred: Ancillary or redemption/cobrand/loyalty experience 
  • Preferred: Airline commercial experience

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $132,200 per year to $146,900 per

year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual

contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the

discretion of the company.
