Position Summary:
The Senior Revenue Controller is responsible for overseeing the collection of outstanding accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments, minimizing overdue balances, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners. This role involves supervising day-to-day collection activities, analyzing aging reports, resolving escalated issues, and supporting the firm’s cash flow goals through proactive strategies. In addition to direct collections, the Senior Revenue Controller will analyze payment trends, identify potential risks, and work closely with cross-functional teams including Receipts, Billing, E-billing and Client Compliance. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and escalating problem accounts. Success in this role significantly impacts the firm’s financial health by reducing days sales outstanding (DSO) and improving overall cash cycles. Reporting directly to the Collections Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Continue with the responsibility of collections duties for assigned partners/clients.
- Maintain open communication with management and attorneys.
- Lead as an example with newer members of the collections team.
- Designate client accounts to ensure collections are met in a timely manner.
- Communicate with clients and other parties.
- Work daily in ARCS3 collection software.
- Ensure the entire to do list is managed and completed in timely manner.
- Ensure contact details, notes are maintained and updated on a regular basis and properly save follow up emails in ARCS3.
- Review/monitor complex accounts and notify management of any issues.
- Review and follow up on unallocated balances and liaisons with NY Accounting Receipts to ensure balances are properly allocated to outstanding invoices.
- Review installment payments to ensure balances are up to date.
- Routinely meet with Partners to review outstanding invoices and to promote timely billing and collection follow-up.
- Review and monitor the status of invoices submitted through third party sites (e.g. ebilling vendors).
- Handle special projects assigned on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:
Education: College graduate with a minimum of six college credits in accounting. College degree in Accounting is a plus.
Experience: At least 1-3 years in account receivables and/or cash application and collection. Understanding automated journal entries and the impact on the general ledger. Work with and prepare Excel worksheets.
Skills & Abilities: Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills: numerical aptitude; professionalism and integrity. Ability to effectively communicate with the partners, attorneys, professional staff, and peers. Must be adaptable and work under time constraints with interruptions and tight deadlines. Must have excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks while presenting choices in a diplomatic manner. Must be organized, detail oriented, a team player and possess a high degree of accuracy. Knowledge of accounts receivable and/or cash application processes and related software. Knowledge of Accounting systems, i.e. CMS, PerfectLaw, Pyramid software. Knowledge of Elite accounting system preferred. Proficiency with various software programs such as ARCS3, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and use of the Internet is required. All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.
