As a Senior General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining general ledger entries and reconciling financial statements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for ensuring that ledger data is accurate and precise under Sox and US GAAP environment. You will be working within a large organization, having contact with diverse business partners from various departments and countries. It is an exciting opportunity to learn new things, to implement best practices for the processes and to standardize the common GL tasks. Responsibilities

  • Perform full financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of financial reports.

  • Perform general ledger accounting, prepare monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Support timely delivery of financial accounting and tax reporting activities, including but not limited to: monthly, quarterly ans annual close processes, Balance Sheet reconciliation, Financial Statements review, IFRS reporting, consolidation reporting, GST/VAT, and Corporate Tax returns.

  • Preparing periodic financial statements, including budgets, forecast, variance analysis and commentaries

  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with Shared Services and Finance teams to oversee & review Accounts payables and Accounts receivables transactions and capital expenses and others financial accounting matters

  • Execute business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal control and compliance to US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Liaise with internal / external auditors on all audit matters to ensure compliance and facilitate completion of annual group audit and annual statutory audit. Execute tasks in the PBC list providing supporting documents to auditors, variance analysis, and other internal and external audit tasks. Also directly communicating with statutory auditors, external and internal stakeholders - directors and company secretary.

  • Report Financial and Operational Issues-processes and systems related. Review of existing policies and procedures, internal controls, compliance with group policy. Process improvement recommendations and driving issue resolutions.

  • Test, design and roll out new financial system or tools

  • Support finance-related and system enhancement projects (process improvements, automation, etc).

  • Support other adhoc accounting activities

 Position Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Accounting/Finance

  • With +7 years of relevant experience in General Accounting

  • US GAAP reporting and IFRS will be an advantage and regional exposure

  • Prior experience in Big 4 will be a huge advantage

  • OneStream financial management is a plus

  • Revenue recognition or inventory management is a plus

  • SOX/Internal Controls knowledge is a plus

  • Strong computer skills especially MS Office

  • Working with ERP systems such as Oracle & SAP

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential

  • Be an effective team player with ability to work under own initiative

  • Team player with strong analytical skills, critical thinking and attention to detail

Mobility: Position based in Madrid (San Fernando de Henares) and limited travelling within European Union or USA might be required.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Strong experience ensuring SOX compliance
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SL9, O365)
  • Experience using Policy IQ for project setup and revenue recognition
  • Experience supporting OneStream reporting
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
