The Work You'll Do:
Sovos is a global tax compliance and regulatory reporting software company, serving over 100,000 clients across more than 70 countries. We help businesses navigate a rapidly evolving landscape of tax rules, e-invoicing mandates, and regulatory obligations. As we continue to grow through both organic expansion and acquisitions, we are building the teams and processes to sustain that momentum.
We are looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to support our global revenue recognition function. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant revenue accounting in accordance with ASC 606, while playing a critical part in building scalable processes and integrating revenue accounting for future acquired entities. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Revenue Recognition.
More specifically, you will:
• Perform global revenue recognition accounting in compliance with ASC 606, ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue across all product lines and geographies
• Prepare and review monthly revenue journal entries, deferred revenue schedules, and related account reconciliations
• Maintain and enhance revenue accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate revenue accounting processes, working cross-functionally with IT, FP&A, and Operations to implement improvements, leveraging AI to perform review and analysis where applicable
• Develop and document scalable revenue accounting workflows and internal controls to support the company's continued growth
• Partner with the systems team to optimize the use of revenue management tools and ERP functionality
• Assist in the post-acquisition integration of revenue accounting to ensure a smooth transition and consistent application of revenue recognition policies
• Serve as a subject matter expert on ASC 606 matters, providing guidance and training to finance team members and cross-functional stakeholders as needed
What We Need From You
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles and their practical application in a SaaS or software environment
• At least 6 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on revenue recognition
• CPA certification required or actively pursuing
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite strongly preferred
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including Sales, FP&A, and external auditors
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, paired with a continuous improvement mindset
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
